Ft Hood....wow!

http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176914

Twelve dead, about 30 wounded.

It started 1:30 EST at the Soldier rating and processing center. The main shooter was injured, not killed. Two others were in custody, but released. They believe now a single shooter.

The shooter is a Major in the Army, a Muslim psychiatrist, Nidal Malik Hasan. The Major had been upset about being deployed to Iraq or Afghan.

It was a precise, execution style deed. So not PTSD, but deliberate act of execution per Major General Robert Scales (Ret)
The female civilian police officer that shot him is stable as well.

With all the wounded, that's a LOT of rounds, so the guy obviously had multiple magazines, reloads and intent.

Prayers to the families of our soldiers!!

This is to bad. Our soldiers have it bad enough as it is and then 3 azz hats pull something like this off. What a shame.

My neice works in the hospital there. It's not the trama center but it is where they brought the less seriously injured and the dead. She said it was just heartbreaking. Our condolences to all.:brokenheart::rose::brokenheart::rose:

Press conference on Fox News with the Commander of Ft Hood says that the shiat bag is ALIVE and the female officer who took him down is also alive.

Wow, what a mess. And apparently he was always Muslim, not a convert. A colonel who used to work with him said he'd said a lot of weird stuff and people told military further up the chain of command and they blew it off.

They say it happened in the old Sports Dome. That was right across the street from the building I lived in in '94-95. But they show a structure a couple buildings to the east that is fairly new. Google Fort Hood and locate Battalion Ave and follow it west until you see a round building on the south side of the road next to some ball fields. The buildings west to east are the Sports Dome, Theatre, Dentist, Sick Call Clinic. Behind the Clinic is the structure in which you see swat huddled around. I guess they could be searching the structure and also watching the treeline behind the sports dome. When I was there the sports dome was a cool little sports bar during the day but rough at night. It seemed like they pulled a body out of the trees behind the place about once a month. From what I know they converted the club to a processing center in June for soldiers preparing to deploy.

This incident is absolutly apauling and has a faint stink of that other guy that went nuts over in the gulf and tossed a hand grenade at a group of other soldiers. He too was a convert to muslim and had a muslim name. But with this guy being a shrink I'm wondering if it wasn't policially or religiously motivated. I guess we will see the story unfold over the next few weeks about this guy. In the meantime I'll bet the Dirka Dirka's are cheering in the streets. And meantime we'll have other good officers loosing their commissions for this.

Sweet! He's still alive, I hope he gets well enough to face a firing squad for what he did.

my wifes best friends son is stationed there, hit real close to home... why try and save the shooters life??? just let him bleed to death where they found him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please forgive the non-military ignorance. Unless he was a MP how would he have obtained the live amunition on the base? When they are preparing for deployment they just provide the rifle and pistol correct?

I'm assuming he brought both the gun(s) and ammo from outside correct? How'd that ever make it thru???

They do not search every vehicle that enters the base, odds are he just drove right in with it.

Or maybe he lived on post and had the stuff for some time.

mmmm... It is pretty hard to get military ordinance and weapons when you are not allowed. Takes more then one person to be "in on it" to make it happen. Surprisingly, weapons are very tightly controlled, though that is military or govt owned weapons. Soldiers generally only have military weapons during training exercises.

Personal weapons are something else though.

Correct on the MP's, mostly the only ones with weapons.

Military personell are generally not searched upon entry to post. They do on occasion have lockdown and vehicle ispections where they look for contraband but when I was in it was only every couple months or whenever there was a shooting. Realistically it would be harder for you or I to smuggle a pistol on base than it would have been for him. And trust me MP's don't have the time to inspect all those vehicles flowing off base. When I was there they did not have gate checks and it was worse than driving in Dallas during rush hour when eveyone got off duty at the same time. Morning was just as bad and that was with a much smaller number of personell (50k between 1st Cav and 2nd Armor Divisions.). When I heard about it I immediatly wondered how the guy would have accessed the unit armory and have ammo to boot. I figured it may have been an armoror that had access. But soon as they announced handguns were used I figured as much.

They are reporting that the weapon used was an FN 5.7. Bought by the shooter. They have not said what model the second handgun was, or if it was even fired. So it appears both were his personal weapons.
