Im going to fort collins/loveland area for thanksgiving and was wondering if there is some area fairly close that i could put some break in miles on my new sled. Trying to figure out if its worth throwing in the back of the truck for the trip. any info is appreciated.

If you go west on 14 there is riding around Gould but whether there will be enough snow is questionable. You can be unloading at the east side of the Snowies in WY in just under 2 hours. I'll be doing the snow dance but conditions could be marginal. There are closer spots around Red Feather but even less chance of enough depth.

Joe Wright snotel at about 10k west of FtCollins shows 13" and Medbow in the Snowies shows 29". Neither of those hides stumps and rocks that well and it's sunny today.

ok, so lets say they have enough snow by then, where do I go? close. some directions or some place I can look up. thanks

Ya, I would leave the sled at home. Unless you know the area where you are going, it ain't worth it. There isnt really any riding under 2 hours from Ft. Collins. Snowies in WY is the closest real riding.

My 2 cents is to bring it, if you can confirm you could get in some road miles without whacking an arm.

Maybe not a bunch deferent, but the Doo's do open up some during and after break in. Plus track seems to get better too, softens up or something?

Get scratchers on there and bang out some miles.

when you heading here for thanksgiving? Next weekend? There is a decent storm coming in that could either be a bust, or help conditions considerably. Closest decent riding is the snowies up 287, west on 130 out of laramie. Rabbit ears, vail pass, are others that are around 2.5-3hrs out.

I have been out twice now to put some break in miles on. I am way down in the SW corner but there is plenty of snow for road riding.

I am keeping an eye on the next storm too, could be a doozy!
