Front shocks

I was told yes tho we may need to get new bushings. I certainly plan to use mine!

Have FUN!

I asked the same question if my evols would work off of my 08 D8 and Carls Cycle told me they are to short.

Dont think they're gonna work. I was in touch with Carl's this spring and they were workin on a new shock package for it. I think they're available now, at least for the rear suspension anyways.....

Unfortunately the FOX EVOL's for the PRO is a different length then the model for the IQ RAW.

The specs are done...ski shocks will be coming first of Oct. The rear skid shocks are available at Carl's.

Very anxious to show you all the benefits of the Fox Racing Shox system for the Polaris PRO. What they did for the IQ RAW was amazing...expect the same magic on the PRO. Remember just because you have the same sled doesn't mean you are getting the best performance from having the same shocks. The ability to custom set your specs to your own personal preference, conditions, weight, and type of vehicle power is AWESOME!

IMO.... Exit Shocks RULE the WORLD of SLED SHOCKS..... But wtf do i know... I just ride the trees, the nooks and crany's and fly off **** w/o thinking and you know what? Its all the same Zbroz shocks makes the sled feel like your just on a little ol trail ride with the wife.....

Well this is a change from what everybody seemed to think last yr. I was told by two different dealer last yr that they were the same length on the 2011 as the 2010. Well if not i guess i have a couple of nice shocks for sale also.

I misinformed you! It's not the length that doesn't fit. I just went out in the shop and measured a stock pro and an IQ RAW with Evol. The length looks the same. Installed as they sit they are both 16.25". One is walker stockers and one is an EVOL X in an 09 IQ raw chassis. That would also go along with Polaris stating that the two model's front arms are interchangeable. The bad news is that the inside eye barrel is changed on the PRO so the bolt holes are a different diameter. That would go along with the bushing info someone talked about. But I still don't know if that is a possibility. It didn't sound like it as we were discussing the options today. Fox said that the shocks are going to have a pressed in fixed sleeve this season as well. They are just getting them finished up and the dealers will have them soon.

I think the extended and collapsed lengths are the important dimensions for shocks. I'm fairly sure that the new cast clip thingy has a different shock mount position (higher) than a standard IQ/Raw as it is more like the IQR upper position. IIRC, it's about a half inch difference. Collapsed lengths between '10 and '11 are similar enough to get by.

If the a-arms are interchangable then the bolt hole on the arm should be the same. So do you think it is just the upper mount that has a different diameter? I hope so and I hope we can get a bushing to fit or be able to machine one to fit.

You have to wow out the holes so really they aren't perfectly interchangable. VERY FRUSTRATING! Wait until you guys get to tearing these things apart. Everything is robotically tightened and they used some magic thread lock that is nearly unbreakable. It's actually stronger then the upper A arm to spindle bolt. TWO GRADE 8 SUSPENSION BOLTS SHEERED OFF TO GET THEM APART...one cold and one heated. EVEN AFTER HEATING TO RED HOT that stuff wouldn't release! If I wasn't such a fricking HE-MAN it would still be stuck there. POLARIS OWES ME SOME TOOLS AND SKIN! But I will be happy taking it out in beer trade next time I see those engineers.

I'll get the very first production Fox Evols on Tues. I will report in on what has to be done as soon as I see them. Everything else has been prototype so far so that is the best that we can do for info. SORRY!

In-field engineering is what makes everything work when it comes down to it. . .

Marty Sampson, the team leader on the RMK for Polaris, indicated to me that the shocks were interchangeable.
He worked personally with WE in Riverside on this shock package...

The need to change out shocks is slowly diminishing in importance.

If Rob is right about the pressed in fixed sleeve in place of the current spherical bearings....I think that FOX is trying to cut costs on the shocks.. the spherical bearings on the ends of the shocks are pretty pricey.. so I could see them going to a fixed bushing at least on one end if it does not change the performance of the shock.

Every chassis can benefit from valving that is dialed in... the beauty of the EVOL-X's is that both the nature of the compression damping, the degree of damping and the Rebound as well as spring crossover points/rates are adjustable... The X's will be direct translations from the RAW to the PRO... with some possible refinements....

Whatever you have on your RAW will bolt on... but for the kind of optimal performance that you expect from an aftermarket shock... custom valving makes the difference.

The FOX inserts for the bearings will need to be bored out a bit for the 10mm shock mounting bolts (old is .375"... new .394=10mm)

The new Walker Evans coilovers close the gap on on the stock to aftermarket shocks...

Of course a $1000 set of EVOL-R's, $1500 EVOL-X's, $850 for EXIT X-0's, $1050 for X-1s and $650 for Walker Needle Piggybacks will give you improved performance over what the factory can provide in a stock sled that is already very expensive.

As far as the A-arms go... they are essentially the same from what I can tell... but they are metric sizes on the bolt holes... I think that they will be interchangeable but the bushings, lower ball joints, and shock mount holes are going to need to be changed...

So Rob... it would be interesting to see you do some comparisons of the R's to your X's on the same PRO-RMK. (actual same sled...swapping only shocks)

Actually very few people have ridden the new PRO with improved shocks over the stock offerings. In addition to the Fox design engineers and support staff the three that I know about and have the utmost respect are Dan Adams, Chris Burandt, and Jack Struthers.

To the man they all state that there is significant and highly noticable improvements experienced with the prototype FOX Evol shocks on the PRO.

I personally rode two customized versions and one bone stock version of the walkers on the demo PRO. I felt like one was a clear winner over the stock with one of the modified versions. After discussing the results in depth with FOX, Burandt, and the crew at Carl's I am very excited to "FEEL" the benefits of the all new EVOL R's for this system.

Last night I installed the very first production FOX RACING SHOX set for the rear suspension known to man. Can't give you a ride report but they look cool!:face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo :face-icon-small-coo

This system is available exclusively through CARL'S CYCLE SALES.

Very few... but some:face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-win:face-icon-small-win

It is interesting that Jack & the crew went with a non-R EVOL for the RTS (no rebound adjustment) and a Coil spring Zero Pro for the FTS.

Although the primary sales line of Carls is the Fox shocks... I was surprised, in this economy, that they are not offering a revalve of the WE FTS shock as they are nearly identical internally and the pistons on the Zero Pro ... and the WE's are high flow pistons on the FTS to start with.... while still running the Extra Volume Float shock in the RTS potion.

Forgot to mention...the complete rear setup as shown ony $855. Eric I guess we just have to trust the experts on this one. Jack is easily one of the world's foremost shock/suspension guys expecially on this application. Tie that in with the experience input from Burandt during the development. Like I already stated you could absolutely feel the benefits of custom work on the walkers over what polaris spec'd. The statement right from Struther's was that this FOX setup is a completely higher level of performance. We have two PRO's that will be bone stockers and then this sled to compare directly heads up daily. It will also be very interesting to compare this sled's ride performance with our other Performance Partner sled with the EVOL X setup. It took me quite a bit of trial and error but finally got that sled to an amazing level of suspension performance. Once the snow flies I"ll let you know from personal "EXPERIENCE"!

I agree Rob ...Jack IS the one of the top Guru's for the Polaris applications.

I just got off the phone with Holz...

They are parterning with Walker Evans and working with them extensively to develop tweaks to take the stock shocks on the PRO models equipped with the Walker Package and the new rear suspension.

A new Rear track shock... custom valved and sprung for the rider... Compression Adjustable, Piggyback remote with HD 5/8 Shaft for $375.

Also an upgrade to the stock Front track Shock (FTS) which will include a comp adjustable remote reservoir for the stock Walker Evans shock with a custom valving package for $175.

A custom upgrade of valving alone is avail from Holz for the RTS for $75 which is said to greatly improve the handling character as it will "dialed in " for the rider.

If you are outside of the 180-190 lb rider that Polaris builds the sleds for... they will have custom coil spring options available to compliment thier shock upgrades for the stock front and rear suspensions.

These combinations will be great...After all... Holz has been rocking this suspension design for 3 years now!!

It will indeed be a great year for this sled!!

Also keep your eyes peeled for the new relases from Timbersled for this application.

Rumor has it that an rear only upgrade is in the works that will convert the already light stock skid into a backcountry boondocking and climbing animal. With the same features on the current offerings that we have come to expect.

Timbersled will also be offering Z-Broz equipped Mountain Tamers this year in addition to their standard and Float-X models

Mountainhorse,

Here is an answer to your question, Carls is offering to revalve the front and rear shocks. I had mine done yesterday. Here is a copy of their post on Snowest and the link,

http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227683

The stock Walker Evans coil shocks that come on the PRO can be revalved for better ride, control and handling. We worked on this setup alot this spring and very happy with the results. Cost is $400 if you send in all 4 shocks, which includes new high flow pistons and custom valving for your weight and riding style. Awesome upgrade for the money. Turn around time is typically about 1 week or less.

We will also have a Fox rear suspension option available too for guys looking for the highest level of performance and adjustability. Front track shock is a Fox zero pro coil-over shock w/ high flow piston, aluminum body and new spring. Rear Shock is a EVOL R, which offers dual air chambers and rebound adjust. Perfect setup for aggressive mountain riders. Cost is $855.

Fox Float 2($695) and Evol R ski shocks($995) will also be available. The new 011' does have a longer ski shock than the previous Dragon models.
