Front Range Wind!!!

Holy cow! Looks like I'll be rebuilding my fence today. 80mph all day yesterday.

Anyone close to the fire near Boulder?

Yeah, that was pretty crazy. As you know we normally get pretty strong wind, but yesterday was about 2 notches above that. It was kind of weird because I live on the West end of town and it was super windy. I went down towards College in the afternoon and there was hardly any wind, came back home and it was windy again. I saw a few houses that had some pretty major roof damage from the wind. My fence and roof checked out alright.

I know why it was windy in the FC. Boulder blows and Greeley sucks!

I apologize for the lame joke, I just couldn't help myself!

It was crazy how windy it was. I could see the fire out my back windows. With the way the wind was blowing my house was not in the direct path, but it was not far off. There were a couple of neighborhoods evacuated, and you could hardly see through the smoke. I went and got a friends cat in one of the evacuated neighborhoods about a mile east of the fire, and there was ash blowing everywhere. Here are some pics of the fire.

watched it most of the evening - crazy stuff. Got a few friends who were evacuated.

The wind lately makes me think I am living in Wyoming - starting to really HATE wind. The one a week ago blew some concrete roof tiles off a couple neighbors roofs - that's some wind when it can blow those concrete tiles around....

I work out east of fort collins and damn it was brutal. I was outside in it all day and when I got home I had one hell of a headache from the wind wistling past my ears all day. Those fire pics are intense.

Small dog warning

My wife went to college in Boulder:
she said it would get so windy they would put out a "Small Dog Warning" on the radio to bring in small pets. Do they still do that?

Small Dog Warning was also the name of a friends band at CU.

I don't envy you with the wind right now..

and now for another lame joke...

Why do they name hurricanes after women?

*drumroll*

Because they come into town all wet, blow everybody, then leave with your dog, your house and your truck.

Yeah the wind was crazy, the fire was worse, you should have seen it up close and personel. I engineered a fire truck the whole night right up next to it. If we started getting a little cool we just moved closer to the fire. Seriously the fire with those winds was not any fun, second time I've fought one of these babies in this same location, first time at this same area was in 1990.
Been out on too many of many of these over the years, give me snow in the winter and let me just ride!!!!!!!!!!! Save the fires for other times of the year!
