Front fender

Does the front fender serve any purpose on a snowbike? I see most are on, but wonder why. Thanks

All the front fender does is hit you in the head when you are getting unstuck, blocks the view of your ski and piss off your riding buds when you break there's that's my two cents

I haven't tried it without, but it like the visual reference for where to find the ski, as a handle for lifting or especially balancing the bike when I pull the ski.

Take it off and report back!

You would be surprised how much that front fender keeps snow out of your face. Try without it and see what I mean.

built my wr450 two years ago and began developing it into sno bike. So fender went, fork guards and hardware went away, air box side panels trimmed, radiator shrouds trimmed back ( factory did it year later ), rear brake gone.

Couldn't see any advantage to front fender. Might block some snow, but seems the newski is wide enough that not much snow kicks up in the deeeep fluff compared to the old narrow ski.

MY new ride, no air box, no fender, no side panels, cut down rear fender.

Anyway, front fenders look like an unfinished project to me.

I have found that if I leave any plastic on my bike it just gets broke. I have broken one front fender (never ran one after that) and six radiator shrouds (no longer bother bolting them on), and the airbox comes off because I run a pod filter. The only piece's of plastic left on my bike are the number plate and rear fender which is only there to cover up the ends of the sub-frame so I don't somehow impale myself. As many have said there is no need for a front fender unless you are really caught up on appearance.

Was looking for a smaller front fender like on a motard.
Ordered a KTM SMR fender.
Not much differece from the original. Can you see it?
Money well spent, NOT! :mmph:

I like to run fork guards to protect the lower fork legs from rocks, brush and branches. I don't think snow build-up is an issue.

Picture......

I can't ride without a front fender. My mind plays tricks on me and I feel like my depth perception is way off. Instead of focusing on the terrian in front of me I was constantly watching my front ski bob up and down when I broke one.

If you are looking for a smaller front fender Acerbis makes a universal supermoto one that is pretty compact.

I kinda like it, functional and saves a few pounds.

I try to remove as much unnecessary weight as possible. I am at a pretty substantial weight (20-60 lbs) disadvantage with everybody that I ride with. This season I retrofitting a heat exchanger into the tunnel so I can delete the radiators and get that weight off the front.

Please make a post when you get to this. I've been interested as well since I boiled my bike over doing a long slow hill climb.
