Front engine Mounts

Having trouble with the front mounts. I switched to Compfusion mounts and didnt get a winter out of them. Got replacements from Colin for last winter and again they didn't last. Less than 100 miles. With last years mounts I switched to the solid crossmember.

Question is there something that could cause this, and can I go back to stock mounts with the upgraded cross member? :face-icon-small-con

Are your rear mounts good? Are you using the SLP torque stops? If the rear mounts are bad, they could be causing too much stress on your front ones, causing them to fail prematurely.

The rear ones got replaced when I installed the first set of Compfusions. I had the torque stops but removed them as stated when you switch to the upgraded front mounts.

This is what I did. Lots of good reviews on the '06 mounts.

I was having some issues with that as well. I replaced the mounts with the 06 stock mounts and made sure everything else was in good condition and adjusted properly and it seems to have solved my issues

Another shot set of expensive mounts... glad I'm not the only one. Franz, aren't you the guy who builds the sweet azz crossmember? So the stock '06 mounts should fit right in there then?

Yep, the holes are all there to bolt on the stock '06 mounts. I think you bought one of the earlier billet cross members so shouldn't be a problem, they were more of a copy of the oem design. If someone wanted to bolt on oem mounts to the later design they will have to send it back to me. I machine it for no charge to accept the oem '06 mounts.

Yeh it's kinda sad...Colin had an awesome product and it really helped a lot of us for many years...but he doesn't even know what's been going on with the mounts coming apart...assuming its supply quality going to chit!! I've lost my fair share of urethane pucks as well, many free replacements from him as well..

but, Ido. Have a set of pucks he made that we're a hard plastic material...seems to work great, but don't remember if he said it was a prototype, or previous version...but once they are gone, I am going to 06 OEM mounts myself...

The main issue with Colin's mounts is they transfer so much vibration to the crapy stock crossmember, it breaks it..so you have to get the billet member...that the one and only franz the manz makes...

However....Jeff (franz) how does the update mount work with 06 mounts when it has the protruded portion built into the cross member for the COMPFUSION mounts?? I've never attempted to use stock mounts on the billet member yet, so maybe it would make sense if I had them side by side, lol. Just a thought...

Ride on fellers...I'll be back form Korea soon, and it's BraaaaAaaaaP time!!

I think you have 3 of the newer style cross members and those are the ones that need modifying. Send them to me when you start seeing a problem with your mounts failing. If you look at that cross member, that protruded portion can me milled off and the necessary holes added. Then you will have a billet oem copy again. Guess I should have stuck with the original design so a guy could go either way, but I couldn't imagine this problem happening with the mounts at that time.
