Frogz Skins?

Anyone using these on there pro? do they hold up? do they reduce airflow?

I will be blasting through willows a lot just want to keep that crap out of the engine bay

A guy on DooTalk set up a cardboard box with a frogskin over a hole with a candle behind it and could not blow the candle out. He was showing that they are really only effective in a scenario where you have pressure or vacuum sealed to the Frog skin. So they work great on an intake with vacuum. But not so great with airflow across them like on your hood. I vote pet screen.

Never had a problem. Ran them on my 11' and now my 13'. I also use the Holz kits on the side panels and cowl though so I get a lot of air moving through.

They're fine if you have additional venting, beyond stock. The hood gets so piled up with pow that those vents become pretty useless on deep and slow days with or without frogskins. If you're gonna melt, it won't be just the frogskins that cause it on those days. You get way more air from the lower front openings than through the hood, anyways. Frogskins help keep water and debris from coming though the top. My experience with and without them.

If you block the lower front holes, add frogskins, and don't add additional venting, you are turning your motor into a rotisserie. Don't block the belly. Add more vents or a blowhole. Frogskins will be okay.

The side upper vents are key for using Frogzskins as they keep snow off of your clutches and brake rotor and they do NOT interfere with heat release (there is a diff between air flow and heat retention peeps)! IMHO the side upper ones are a MUST if you ride deep powder (unless you like slipping belts).

Have FUN!

skins and the pow pow

Not really an expert and have little opinions but one.......we ride a fair amount every year up at pemberton/whistla!!!!!! and the powder can be deep!!! and dry. :) We seemed to be struggling with poppin belts up there .......some of our canadian friends up there discussed as g-man stated........they believed that ultra fine powder gets in and causes the belts to slip and heat up on a very small scale but consistently doing this obviously not good. We all vent our sleds a bit also with some aftermarkets goodies but after frogskinnin up those holes we definately saw a reduction of scattered belts that always will explode midstream up a fricken wall of snow and carnage of course! I uippose ultimately its all a bout fitting yer sled to your style. Comments please.
