Frog skins on mid hood vents?

Use them or not needed?

I put frogskins nose hood vents on my 09 M8 SP and really like them. I removed the stock wire screens - and clips of course. I also bought but have not installed the mid hood frog skin vent covers. Since the mid hood vents are over the exhaust pipe, melting the snow that jams in there has not been an issue to keep the vents clear to maintain good airflow. It looks like with the frogskin vent covers the heat might not be able to escape as well. Any comments from those who have frogskins on their mid hood vents? Thanks

I like the mid-hood vents on my '07 M8.
I've been running in dry Montana over-the-hood powder for the last couple weeks. Ran a couple weekends before putting the vents on (no screens either) and it seemed like I sucked a pretty good amount of powder inside the engine compartment. Road deep dry powder the last 3 weekends with the vents and the compartment is snow-free. Didn't seem to clog with snow either. Material is slick enough that the snow seemed to flow right off. Can't really comment on wet snow, as we haven't had any lately.

we have both lowers and mids on our 09 m8's, they are worth their weight in gold. keeps the snow dust out from under the hood. for less than 50.00 for all the front holes... it is well worth it in my opinion. ski

I lioke mine so far but, they are starting to peel up a bit in the tight corners. Make sure you clean the area really well with isopropol alcohol or acetone. Here's a picture of mine with my hood that cracked just from opening it (pisses me off).

Cheap Adhesive

I also installed the mid vents on my sled and have the problem with them wanting to lift in the inside corners where it has to get in tight. I cleaned it just like the directions said but still lifted. Not happy about it. I have BDX lower front vents and not a problem. Too bad BDX did not make mid vents or I would have bought those.

P.P.

I haven't had a chance to ride it since I put them on. They are pretty cheap so I went ahead and put them on all the hood vents.

Wow, 1M800 your sled looks great! Sure looks good in the standard black with the green stickers!

Thanks! I like the black. I have always had green Cats before. This has just enough green to keep it a "real" cat! ;)

I like the white much better :D

I plan to make longer cables that attach higher on the hood too. The low attachment points for the hoodcurrently just doesn't provide the leverage to stop the hood adequately.

The white reminds me of an old XCR 600. ;)
