Freeride Pants too narrow for Radium boot?

So I've been wearing Kilm Freeride pants for 4 or 5 years now, still on the model that looks like this - http://www.snowest.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=182581&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1349845314 - (2 generations old). Really like them and have had no reason to upgrade, still in good shape.
I have used HMK Pro boots up until now but finally wore holes into the ankles & toes so picked up some Klim Radium boots for this year ('14 model). Problem I am facing now is that I have a real hard time zipping the zipper down over these Radiums, they seem to be a bit girthier then my old HMK's. A couple of times when trudging through deep snow during my ride I had the pants slip up over the top of the boots and had a heck of a time getting them back down. I should note that I also wear some moto style shin guards which protrude down into the boot a bit and make it effectively girthier.

Anyways, I'm wondering is if the newer freeride pants are any wider or more "boot cut'ish"? This combo will not cut it for me. Klim gurus chime in!

Thanks,
- Rob

Are you using the loop on the pant to keep it from riding up? It should clip onto a D ring or onto your laces on the boot.

I don't know if the newer pants are wider or not, mine are older but I run the Adrenaline boot.

Combining that Radium Boot with a Knee Brace that goes inside the boot a little bit will make them huge. The are massive without any extra material inside of them. To answer your question, the new pants do not have a flare or wider designed foot opening than the old ones. Although, in our experience they are overall a bit larger than the old size so you may have your problem fixed, but we would not bank on it. Also, once you get them over the boot before riding, if you hook the gator strap up correct they should never come back over the top of the boot. Hope that helps!

I wore that combo for 4-5 years and never had a problem. Finally got tired of a snowy crack and changed to bubs

Thanks for the feedback, i did have the gaiter on and velcro'd but it still wanted to pull up. I will have to try and attach the gaiter to the boot with the extra snap.

The snap to the boot lace is a must do, that'll fix your problem.

We would agree that it is a must do, but it did not fix all of our problems in testing and with our staff. We have personally hooked the snap closure on the farthest part of the laces we could reach, and in deep snow when you step down the front stays down but the back of the gaiter comes up over the backside of the boot to reveal your sock and interior of the boot. Best gaiter setup to date that we have tried and personally logged miles on is the FXR one. Snap closures front and back so that they work with a variety of boots, loops, and hooks. And if you hook pair them with the FXR boots designed for both of the hooks you have the ultimate method of keeping the gaiter down. We have made mention to Will down at Klim, our rep, and hope that Klim does this in the future. Gives the option to wear with many boot types, potentially gives two points to secure the gaiter, and would maybe add .50 cents to the mfg cost.
