free floating secondary

have read about some guys free floating secondary on a '07 800. i've got a 151" would like to hear if anyone can give me more info about, how to, why to, why not etc...

Smitty on dootalk makes one. just email him. haven't tried it but know some guys who have it and it looks like it works. Should really do that for mine as well....
hope that helps

Ive got one from duck899. Great guy and his floater seems to work well. My clutch temps went down a bit, they weren't too high to begin with but the cooler the better.

Duck899 on dootalk makes them. It is a good idea to put one on.helps to keep the clutches lined up when the engine is twisting under load.

I've got one and it helped alot with aligning my clutches. Last year if I adjusted the deflection, one run would wear the belt down so it was sitting down in the clutch. I did this afew times until there was no more deflection adjustment. Now with the spacer the belt does not wear, there is a fraction of the belt dust and my belts are lasting longer.(haven't switched yet, still on second belt)

floating sec.

I've got the one off my 06 sitting on shelf w/your name on it ya wants, PM me? Can't use on this XP.

Huh?

cause on my 07 151 there is just a bunch of washers and it doesnt alow the clutch to snug up either.

If your secondary doesn't snug up securely on the jackshaft w/ 16 ft./lbs. of torque applied....something ain't right? Does the bolt feel like it's bottoming out in the thread boss before it secures the secondary? You should have multiple washers and a dust cup riding on the helix face. You should check to see if you might possibly be missing a few spacer washers...JMO.

just make your own. they are simple to make, I made my own for about a nickel. one inch aluminum rod about 2 inches long. Drill out the center so the bolt goes thru and voila! Works great, about 800 mi. with mine and clutches are much happier.
