Good to see a manufacturer taking the steps to protect their customers. Hopefully all will be on board soon doing the same thing, but the sinister side of me wonders if somehow if a pack fails and the rider dies (god forbid) will a lawsuit bring it all to an end?????

Looks to me like you have a choice of either the avalanche kit OR 2 year warranty. Doesn't sound like much of a deal to me. Not many people are going to forfeit their warranty for the avalanche kit.

Comes with a one year warranty. The second year is optional or the avalanche kit.

Second year warranty doesn't do you much good if you die in an avalanche the first year.
Avalanche education is the most important thing to have along with the essential avalanche gear. If you do get caught in an avalanche, an avalanche airbag pack is your best chance for survival.
