Chris McNeil, the Wyoming State Trails Safety Coordinator, will be conducting two avalanche classes this year. You may attend one or both of the classes. The first class will be an instructional class Friday, January 18, at Western Wyoming Community College, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in room 1302 (near the pendulum). If you have a beacon please bring it. <o></o>
The second class will be Saturday, January 19. We will begin at the Horse Creek parking lot at 10:00 a.m. Chris will begin with some guidelines and then head out down the trail. He will stop periodically for instructions and to play out some scenarios. Please bring your beacons, shovels and probes as you will be acting out rescue drills. The Snowpokes will provide lunch. <o></o>

Do you know if we can attend just the class without beacons, I am still pretty new to Wyoming and my sleds and gear are all in Montana.

I attended one of his courses last year and learned a lot. I think Chris had a few extra beacons when we went for the on the snow portion. If you can make it his class is a good one to attend.

Beacon or no becon you should come. I will bring 2 and Im sure we can mange. If you have the time it will be worth your while.

You do not need a beacon for the classroom portion class on Friday night. Please don't let that stop you from attending.

Horse Creek?

Where is the Horse Creek Parking lot located in WY????

The one that we are talking about is North of pinedale, wy. If you go north on 191 past pinedale about 5 miles you will see a gas station called Daniels Junction. You turn left onto the road right there and it dead ends in the parking lot.

What a sweet setup by the sweetwater snow pokes ! do they do this every year? If they do I will be ready for the field portion next year!
