A hurricane moving north up the BAJA coast might hit a low pressure cold front by California around 1 October.

Maybe some cold rain / snow in the southern Sierras and Rubbies then off to Colorado?

Not sure on amounts if any ... just wishing for cold weather a AND SNOW

Noticed some freezing temps this week at 7000 feet !!!!

Really does anybody on this site ever want it to rain. I think NOT!!! Snow is always better than rain no matter the situation.

Don brown post weather info and I listen.....

Some of the most EPIC weeks ever spent on a sled have been chasing the storms Don mentions online....

Super sized is nice every once in a while. I would prefer to get about 12-30" every Friday then clear off for the weekend since I work during the week. Is that too much to ask?

Dweeb from Mammoth says it will be a "good" dusting in California !

There is a small narrow tropical/subtropical upper ridge that extends from the Mexican Main Land between the TS and the southern tip of Cabo, west to about 136W. Over the next 24 hours, as the current short wave swings through California, a short wave upper ridge follows and effectively pulls the subtropical upper ridge apart. Once split, a Coll forms (upper low) and becomes the dominant steering mechanism beginning Monday night as it changes Hillery’s current course from East to west to one of a more northerly one. The short wave leaving the Asian east coast tonight will be the one that may pick up the remains of Hillary Friday night drawing it northward over parts of California that weekend. The combination of the two systems and considering the cold air on the trof might bring the first good dusting to the high country, next Saturday and Sunday ... 1 - 2 October 2011

well.... a good rain is needed to pack down some snow and brush and all that fun stuff if u've got nothin but powder... build a good base, then bring on more snow :)

Decreasing chance for storm for 1-2 October with MAJOR part of storm to hit TUESDAY 4 October. Was initially a one day storm now talkuing about several days with brunt of it at the end.

This is from NWS (National Weather Service) and this is the FIRST storm of the season from the Pacific Ocean where moisture from the south (pineapple express) will connect with a cold front from the north.

Cold here in AK, frozen puddles but no snow in my neck of the woods yet...
