Fraying Powerclaw

Got 470 miles on my 09 M8 and im having some track fraying issues on the outer edges...Took the propane torch to the frays a few times but a few rides later same $hit different pile. Wondering if anyone else has had a issue and if maybe i have other issues? Track isnt rubbing anywhere from what i can see. Never had a issue with my old sled with the Challenger track.

maybe do a search in the artic cat section, seems they were rubbing somewhere near the drop brackets. have almost 300 miles on mine and it hasn't frayed at all, mines an 07...

I dont think it is just an arctic cat thing...my Powerclaw was on a Nytro...and a buddy of mine, same thing...both on Nytro's...it seems it is something in the outer edge of the rubber mold or something...

mine too

i have mine on a 2005 m7 and with only 150 miles it started fraying.....and it is not rubbing anywhere, torched the frays and within a couple of rides back it came...love the track just gonna deal with it and i think next one i might try an extreme.

If it is on a new 09 or 10 your track is rubbing on the rivets that were installed cheaply on the inside of your tunnel. You can keep burning them off it will eventually stop freying or you can drop your track and use a block and a air hammer or something like that and flatten them out. Make sure if you are using a torch to burn them that your track does not catch fire:mad: as a few on here have so far.

I agree. Have a PC on an 05 M7 and it's fraying. I'm going to grind down the tunnel rivets that are catching it. However, I've run both a A20 and a Cat Challenger track on the same sled and had no probs. It's something unique about that track.

When they make the tracks, there are several molded together side to side. When they hack them apart there are some strings that hand out. I have seen where someone has torched them, and they never cool down. Slowly melt a big hole in the track. The frays are no big deal. Ignore them!
