Fragile Quick Drive Belts, but after break in?

We have all heard the reports, and seen the diagrams of what not to do with the drive belt. No bending, twisting, clamping, squeezing, squishing, basically handle with white cotton gloves as to not damage it. Does anyone know if this holds true after the belt is broke in?? Would it be worth breaking in two belts, so when/if it breaks and your deep into the backcountry you are not putting on a new belt that now has to be babied, if so you might not get out of where you are!! I'm not saying that after you break one in you can fold it in half, throw a zip tie on and shove in your handlebar bag, but at least squish or squeeze enough to fit in a pack or tunnel bag without having to keep it perfectly round or as it is coming from Polaris. Any thoughts from somebody in the know??

That's a pretty good question. I'll bet mountainhorse can chine up with info for us.

From the way it sounds in the instructions is that when your breaking in the belt your also breaking in the gears . Making the second belt break in a shorter period since the gears have been shaped to the belt ?? If that's the case why would they do that ??

I can follow what they are saying but also don't understand why they would do that either. The original question I posted came about also because of them saying that there is a certain "plastic" in the belt that needed to be heated up to complete the break in process of the belt, that's why I wondered if it was less fragile after break in?? Tough to keep up, too much untested tech too fast with the new poo I'm afraid!!!
