Fox Float PSI settings in Timbersled Mt Tamer skid

Hey all, in my Apex MTX I'm running a Mt Tamer skid with fox floats in center and rear shock positions. Skid is a 2010 version, not new version. Anyways, anyone else running this set up? If so, what psi are you running in each shock if you wouldn't mind sharing. My riding style is off trail on waist deep, but mostly set up powder (but don't have hardly any snow right now).

Thx all,

SS

I ran 90 in the front and 145 in the rear as a starting point, and then adjust as needed. My sled is a Nytro, but that should get you in the ball park.

Thank you for the starting point Moto junkie, much appreciated!!!

Say, how do adjust the older style Mt Tamer for more or less transfer? I see the two screws on the top of the rear H arm.... Screw them down for less transfer and loosen them for more transfer perhaps? And other than those screws back there and the limiter strap, abd the psi of the floats of coarse, is there any other adjustments possible with the rear Mt Tamer skid?

Your kit should have came with a couple shims, and the TS website(www.timbersled.com) has a guide in the instructions on where to place the shims depending on if you are stock, or by how much HP you are running on boost.

With no shims and 15lbs my ski's would be 3 feet in the air on a climb, the next ride I added the shims and it was PLANTED, the most I could get was a few inches of lift.

Hey thanks guys, much appreciated!!!

Say, I hate to ask, lest sound like a complete newbie with my skid, but does any one have a pic of these shims or of where they go?

that screw/bolt that you mentioned on your second post along with an aluminum cap hold the slide mechinism together. You remove that bolt to install the little shims that look like aluminum donuts. Remove one at a time so that the slide mech. is still held together by the other bolt. slide the shims over the lower sleave and insert bolt again and tightened down. to put shims on the bottom I believe you have to unbolt the H arm from the rails and pull apart the slide mechanism. I don't have a turbo so I have never needed to put lower shims in.

That's correct. They are installed on the rear arm of the skid above or below the transfer slide thingy. Shims below will decrease transfer. Less transfer keeps it planted and more will give ski lift.

Thx guys. I bought my TS skid used and didn't get describe to me how to adjust the transfer, for more or less transfer. So thx guys, this really helps. I checked out my TS skid, its got a shim on each side above the slide portion right now. Just one on each side. So I suppose this means mine is set for almost full transfer, and could remove the shim from each side if I wanted full transfer. But I think it's good for now. But this info is great guys; very helpful and nice of you guys!
