Fox Float 3 Evol R Shock Settings

Been searching through some threads and found very few setup psi and rebound settings. I was hoping people that run the new Float 3 versions, fronts/rears or both could post up their usually setups. If you want toss in your ride weight, typical riding terrain, jumping, etc. Also, how often do you change them for different riding conditions? Do you run a swaybar?

I just installed them and have no rides yet. I understand I will need to adjust them but I figured getting a bunch of numbers in one thread could help others.

Started with (at 25F degrees): Burandt Edition shocks

Fronts: 65psi main, 125psi Evol, rebound 10 from soft
FTS: 51psi
RTS: 150psi main, 175psi Evol, rbound 15 from soft

I'll follow this thread. I have the same setup, and I'm having some challenges adjusting the rear shock. Either it turns out as stiff as a brick, or it sags out, and what is left of the travel is just as stiff as the fore mentioned setting.

The other three shocks seems to have a much wider soft spot

i too am having this issue. my fronts feel great but i have run 140 and 150 in my rear and its still really stiff down the trail. feels good on bigger hits but the stutter plushness isnt there. i have read on here that 2-300 miles for break in and they get better?

Here's what I was given for a base tune. I'm 195+ gear, 36" front end, no sway bay, general boondocking. I'll probably do some more tweaking, but it feels pretty good.

Front: 60 main, 105 evo. Rebound: 13 clicks out.

FTS: 48

RTS: 135 main, 175 evo. Rebound: 6 clicks out.

burant ski shocks

I find the front are to soft through first half of travel. Tried 40-60 psi n the main. This also changes the ride height and sag. 60 psi jacks the front of sled up 1.25 inches.

Expected more replies here. Think MH was running some floats, too. Mine are valved with Carl's setup, rider 185 lbs with zero gear, maybe 220 all geared up. Been rebuilt twice, and they needed it. Otherwise stock skid, shocks run in a 155 11 and a 155 14. Same results both skids. For good snow, I've run:

55/80 in fronts, rebound 9 out. Stab bar in. Front is very good. I'm not doing drops.

130 (or just under)/150 in RTS, rebound 12 out, with a light bag at end of tunnel and +3 gals of gas right behind the seat. It's as soft as I can go without excessive sag. Ride is stiff. I can go under 125 on the rear nothing on the tunnel, anymore and sag is like 50% of travel.

FTS is a zero pro, about 8 turns of pre-load on the collar. It's alot of preload. Limiter is stock.

I have played with this alot since 2011, 3+ seasons. This combo gives me enough flicker while still taking big hits in the rear. Ride is not cushy, best compromise I've come up with. Better than stock, but now both XM and M stockers ride better. It does get on top of the snow better than any sled I've ever seen (typical pro). FWIW, if you getting any emulsification coming out of air valve, you need a rebuild.

I did find track tension is important - I'm running OEM deflection (very little sag). Lube skid about every third ride.

To add to the mix.

'13 155 with timbersled rear arm kit (apple to oranges). 250lb bag, gear and rider.
EVO 3's Frt 60/90 (swaybarless)
mid. 58
rear 130/190 (bump EVO to 210 for spring)
no coupling unless too deep

Not harsh at all.

i just go back from my first ride with fox evols on the skis and stock WE in the skid (2014 pro) w/ 230 riding weight and 60psi in main and 160psi in evol champer and 7 clicks on rebound. i got alot of ski lift in the corners on the trails to the mountain. other than that they rode great. im going to lower the main chamber down to 50 for my next ride and see how that feels. i will be watching this thread as well for some setup tips

Burandt edition evol R fronts 55-60 main chamber 105 evol. Clickers at 15. No swaybar. Seemed about perfect for in the backcountry and the the ride getting there. I'm a little over 200 lbs with gear.

my .02..

Track tension... has 100% input to Rear suspension settings...

Too loose.. suspension sags too much..

yes you do need some sag.. but not 5 inches of it..

Matt is dead on, and if you put a can or bag with gear on the tunnel, it's even more pronounced. I played with it with the float evol and different pressures - the difference is noticeable. Run the factory tension.
