Fox EVOL R help - Front Track pressure?

I have installed the front and rear EVOL R Burandt series shocks on my PRO. I have searched everywhere to find what a good FRONT SKID shock pressure would be. I haven't taken it out yet. I have read a ton of great posts about all three other EVOL R shocks and have those at good starting points for my weight. I about 185 with my gear on.
The front skid shock is the new Burandt series, (tuned for the pro) Fox EVOL shock. Not the spring over of the past years.
I have searched and searched, if anyone has any good tips or experience with the set-up at all, let me know please. Thanks.
BTW its a 155.

Just wonder where you purchased them. I want to upgrade aswell. The rear shock fade over the 25km of trail leading to the hill is awful. I was also looking at the Holtz rear shock with the resivoir.

The evol kits, most of them sold by Carl's, were all zero pros on the front skid. There is little to no experience with a front front on a stock skid. Which is why you're going to find and hear little.

The vendor where you purchased, or ping Burandt's site directly, since his flickable name is on them, to get a good starting point. Having the Carl's setup myself, with the zero pro, I will say that small changes in air pressure are noticeable, while the zero pro front is get a setting and forget. Which means, you are smart to find a recommended starting point for it, hunting for it yourself in the deep could be some work. Putting air in is not as easy as turning a spring keeper.

shocks

If your not going to be doing big jumps, run your front shock as soft as you can, this helps the sled get on top of the snow. I weigh about 230#'s geared & I run my front track shock at 48- 50 psi, and this is on a Holz alpha-x rear skid. I run the rear track shock at about 110 psi in the main chamber & 140 psi in the evol chamber, with the rebound clicker turned to the stiffest setting, or close to the stiffest setting, now the rear track shock psi is less then what its supposed to be for my weight, but that little bit less makes it very very easy working the sled in technical situations. My front shocks are evol-x's & I run them at 60 psi in the main & 140 in the evol with the rebound at closest to the stiffest setting. The chart says I should be running them at 65 in the main chamber, which I did when I first got them, but for technical riding, they work so much better at the lower psi.

Thanks

Thanks GREEN DENALI!

Thats great information. I will certainly use it.

I wrote to BBA and said that my rear track shock was at 135/175. He wrote back and said this:

Hey Judd, I would bump your main pressure in the rear shock to 150 psi. The Evol chamber should be good to go. And your front track shock should be set at 50 psi. Front shocks 60/120. Enjoy!

Chris

So that is what I will do. Then if I don't like that, I will try the lower rear track shock settings of the MIGHTY GREEN DENALI!

Thanks all!

Great file! One question though are these recommendations for Burandt's valving, Carl's valving or stock Fox valving?

I have a complete set on the way from Carl's on the way. I'm just curious really.

This is for the stock Fox valving, I dont know if the burandts & carls require different air pressures, I would think it would still be the same, I've never seen any updated air pressure charts. That is the chart I've gone
by when I bought mine in 2010.

I run the R,s on a timbersled skid and main 70. Evol 100

Heres an attachment that shows the setup pressure.

Those are the setup pressures for Tom's kits for the DOO's with completely different valving and swingarm leverage ratios (though the front ski shocks and FTS may be "in the ballpark"). They weren't helpful to me when setting up Chris' version (I have both FWIW). In fact I repeatedly questioned his original low recommendations for the RTS (suspension was sacked out at static) and he kept coming back with higher and higher numbers. Those numbers he gave you are money - real close to where I'm at after 2 years of testing.

Have FUN!
