Found what looks like steel wool in my Stator?!?

I took off my recoil to check my stator wires, even though everthing ohm'd properly, but when I looked inside there was a bunch of what looked like steel wool in there. It looked like it could have been finely shredded insulation from the wires, but they looked just fine from what I could see. I don't have the flywheel tool so I could not see behind it. The stuff I pulled out was soft, so it definitely wasn't metal. I am just wondering if anybody else has seen this before?

Get a flywheel puller and see if the inner ring has come loose on your flywheel.

It turns out the problem with my sled was the 5 tooth crank position sensor. It was bent out and was not picking up the teeth up properly, and was messing up my timing. I did not pull the flywheel to see behind it, but for now I'm just happy my new purchase is running!!
