It was actually closer to Gore Pass. Lots of snow on north facing slopes, just not lots of base.

Did you park on 40 and head South? That is Buff Park. Or did you go in from Gore Pass and go north? Buff Park is nice, not a ton of rocks but more flat than RE.
I think we rode about 5-7 miles south of 40. IIRc, gore mtn is around 10-11 miles south (straight line) from 40.
