Found out why my 975 won't shut off!

I could not get my HTG 975 motor to shut down and it was confusing the hell out of me as all I did was buy a 975 motor package off a guy on here. It came with a HTG re-flashed ecu and another complete BD nitrous system ( I already have one). I had a full slp 05 fusion and I lost the motor (05 piston skirt broke) so I installed the new 975 and it won't shut off- come to find out that HTG ecu was the problem. I switched back to my slp re-flashed one I know worked and know the sled will shut off. Looks like I will be calling Rob at HTG and see if I can get a new ecu or find out whats up with this one. Does anyone know if it will hurt to run a HTG 975 with an SLP performance edition package re-flashed ECU?

I wouldn't ride it like that! Your kits hp is what.. in the 185 hp range?? The slp flash won't deliver enough fuel for that power level. Am I missing something here??

I wouldn't run it with the stock ecu unless you start adding fuel. i am having the same issues with htg i have gotten 4 ecu's and 2 didn't work and the 3rd one is running the sled if you want to call it that.

it has no power. maybe some where close to a 600 but not no 900. As some have suggested i am going to call carl's cycle and see if i can get my ecu flashed by them. it has to be closer than what i have. pretty sure mine is way rich. a/f gauge is in the 11 to 13 area at wot and it don't start running till the valves open then it pulls like a 600. let me know how it turns out for ya.

Your running an 06 motor and ecu correct? Have you been talking to rob? What did he say? I know several people that have run these HTG kits and they were happy. Flash1970 has an 06 HTG 975 maybe you can talk to him.

yes i am running 06 motor 06 ecu. haven't talked to him since this weekend but the last time i talked to him he sent me a stock ecu and a 975 ecu that said on it check to see if good and that was all he had left for 06's and he didn't know if he could get polaris to flash anymore. then he said with some messing around with timing keys and a box he might beable to get me close

Yeah I just talked to rob too, and he said the same thing. Polaris flashes the ecu's for them and it is almost impossible to get them anymore and only one guy there does them. He told me to run my slp one or a stock one with a timing key and add fuel to tune it. I have both egt's and air/fuel guage and I already have a 1.5 degree key in there. He said those ecu's add a couple degrees timing and more fuel. I too may talk to carls and see if they can flash mine.

What kind of weight are you running in your primary? rob didn't give me any idea what to run so i started by adding 6grams to what i was running and that was way off.

This was my PM's from HCS.

Hey I just bought a htg 975 and had a few questions. I got the updated porting and pipe. This engine is brand new and not even assembled. I also have a htg programmed ecu. Are you running yours with a bd box and stock ecu or is yours htg programmed too? What clutching are you running- does rob have a kit? I also got another boondocker nitrous kit with this, ,with a custom programmed BD box that has more RPM ranges on it. Do you run a map just for pump gas or just the nitrous? and lastly what numbers are you running and what fuel you running for nitrous?

Thanks,
Scott

my 975 i was running a htg program box, no issues with the fuel curve, the one thing, i dynoed at dynotech on the dyno the motor made best power at 7400-7500, even though rob told me to spin it at 7700-7800, at the lower rpm it pulled like a train, the clutching i was using was 78g hammerheads, from speedwerx blk/green pri spring pol. 58/44 full progessive helix red/blk sec. spring, i also had 50 shot boondocker, my fuel # was 35, but i would start at 40 then work your way down till it runs clean, i never had any issue with the motor with about 30 bottles run through the motor, when playing with the no2 i ran 110, trail riding i always ran 93 . the motor sits on my bench now as i am running a 1140 now with the juice, oh one other thing, on the juice i swithed the helix to the 58/46 angle and then hold on!!!!!! but it couldnt pull it when trail riding

great info thanks a bunch

Well I emailed Carl's Cycle and they don't do the 975's anymore or can reflash ecu's. Talked to Jim at SLP about running their ecu for their performance edition kit and he said it is set up for trail riding and it advances and retards the timing through out the timing curve, and that he would not running any timing key on an efi sled. But I have heard guys are running keys with good results. So it looks like I am going to run my slp ecu with the 1.5 degree key I already have installed and add fuel with my BD box watching my wideband and egts. What a pain.
