Fouling Plugs

After pulling the engine to install CompFuision motor mounts, the engine is running very rough. I pulled the plugs and notice that one side is fouling. It is very wet with oil. The engine with rev up but teh instant I let the throttle off the check engine light comes on and eventually teh engine dies. The engine did not have any issues before it was pulled to put the mounts in. What could have gone wrong here?

Has it only done it to one set? Try new plugs, maybe you just have a bad one. Had this happen to me, sled ran fine, tore it apart to replace intake boots and clean v.e.s valves. Started it up and it ran like crap, one plug fouling. Installed new plugs and bam! It runs great now.

I also changed out theintake boots. I took the plugs out and cleaned them up really well. But it still fouls on the one plug. Do you think changing the plugs would stop the fouling? I guess I could try. Worst case I have a new set of plugs intalled.

I'm starting to wonder if teh intake boots aren't really a plug n go part. Since the enine is EFI and not carbed there may be some asjustments needed. I'll probably need to take to a dealer and plug into a computer for the answer.

I really do not see why changing the intake boots would affect anything

seems like check engine light flashes every 2-3 seconds at idle. I changed teh plugs and ranit more about 10 minutes. Removed teh plugs and one side esa clean teh other already showed oil and blackeinng

How many times does it flash. It will blink out a code. like 2 blinks pause, 2 blinks, pause over and over again the number of blinks tells you the code

The idle is low around 1100rpm. I think spec calls for 1600-1700rpm. Teh check engine light is hard to tell how many times it is blinking. It flashes tehn about a second after it flashes again, and then again....at some point it does wait about 3 seconds for the next flash but they are not consistant enough to say it is an exact number of flashes. I'm sure a dealer could hook this up and immedidtely tell me what problem is but I am nowhere close to a dealer and dont' have my truck available. And it is still fouling the one plug!

It looks to be a singel flash and sometimes 2 flashes

1 flash = TPS voltage out of range

2 flashes = water temp sensor voltage out of range

Either way it sounds like something was left unplugged, or wiring was damaged. Fouled plugs will not cause the computer to flash codes.

Check your TPS wiring (connector on the throttle bodies that leads to the ECM in the engine harness)

Check your water temp sensor wiring (bullet connectors above the recoil housing that lead to the ECM in the engine harness) The exhaust sensor connector is also in the same area and it's possible to mix the two sets of connectors up if I'm not mistaken.

check your wiring very carefully i would love to say im perfect when i installed my engine, but i hate to admit i had a sensor harness rubbing on the jackshaft, causing a short... took me for ever to find.

Same here, I had the injector code flashes after installing engine. Turned out the injector connectors have to be put back together carefully so when I did mine one of the pins pushed out cannot remember if was in male or female end of connector.

To the OP, here is an '06 trouble code chart. The flashes will be fast 1-10 times, then a short pause. If more then one code is going on they will do one code, then pause, then the other for example, 3 flashes-pause-5 flashes-pause then start over again.

i bet money your injector harness is not right...you prolly pushed a pin in when you connected it and its barely making contact. ;)

and if you havent set your TPS yet, i would do that now and also fix the soon to be broken TOS harness while your in there.
