I'm in the market for a new lawn tractor. My budget is a max of about $1600. I have identified 3 makes and I'm having trouble deciding. Factors for me: Multching, Speed you can cut at, manuverability, dependability. Here is what I've found so far. If I'm missing something important in my criteria let me know.

1 - Sears YT3000 Craftsman: 42 or 46 Deck, 16" turn radius, Hydro on fender, Briggs Platinum 20hp single, 2 year at home warranty. $1399, with hydro on the foot $1499. Mutchi9ng close off extra.

2 - Cub Cadet LTX 1042: 42 Deck, 12" turn radius, Hydro on the foot, Kohler Courage single, 3 year warranty (local dealer, not dept store), dealer will throw in multching close off. $1600

3 - Ariens 2046: 46 Deck, Hydro on the foot, Kohler Courage 19hp single, 2 year limited warranty, Home Depot purchase, multching close off extra. $1499

Skip all of those and buy a deere... A REAL deere not a Home Depot deere...

Even a used Deere in your price range will outlast any of those 3...

My .02 anyway... Just spent 3 hours on our '83 318 Deere last night... Bought it brand new and still use it every week... although it has since been repowered with a Honda motor... But we have used that little tractor like a farm tractor MANY times and it's still holding up!

Oh and if I HAD to chose from those 3 it'd prolly be the Cub...

I have the Cub Cadet LT 1550. Had it for 2 years now and has ran great, no problems........ :beer; :beer;

Some people aren't completely brainwashed into green paint.

I'm not JD anything other than lawn/garden tractors... Prefer red tractors... but after what we've put ours through... I'd never own anything else... not to mention the versatility of the 300 series deere garden tractors...

Was kinda funny growin up watchin the neighbors buy a new mower every few years... cuz they refused to buy a green one... Just because it was JD...

Agree with the jd I have bought a 1973 JD 110s from a a guy I work with that was is fathers. He bought it brand new in 73. I think he changed the oil on it once and that when the new motor was freshend up on it. I changed it when I bought it. Out off all my toys I can go up to that any day no matter what the temp is put the choke on and it will start. Great peice of machinery and I only spent 400 dollars on it and got a snow blower for it and bagger. BUY A GOOD JD.

Yeah, my dad runs nothing, but red tractors on our farm. We have always had had a green mower though! The quality is well worth every penny.
