Ford Expedition - No engine choices?

Someone correct me if I am incorrect, but I think the 5.4 is the only engine available in the Expedition?

The 6.2 would make a damned nice puller out of this rig.
The ecoboost would make a good puller that still gets decent mpg.

With both of these engines in their arsenal, why not offer them?

Knowing Ford, they are about ready to make some updates in their product line for 2015. They probably figured since they were selling product why change it until the new version comes out. I would imagine that 3.5 Eco would be in there before too long since they already offer it in the Explorer Sport and the Police Interceptor version. With the mileage standards coming pretty quick, I would doubt you would see the 6.2 in the Expedition. Maybe I will be wrong, but that rig is not the most economical and a big V-8 will likely not be helping the fleet average. Rumor has it that they have a smaller V-6 Eco coming along so maybe that will be destined for this purpose. :gossip:

I've been watching for a different engine for awhile now in the expedition. My wife has a 2012 Expedition EL with the 5.4L it gets between 16 and 18 which is actually the same as the GMC Acadia she had before. Anyway we've been waiting for a new engine before she upgrades and everything I read says the 2015 should be a full redo. The only engine though I keep being mentioned is the 5.0L which would still be a nice change from what I've read. The 6.2L makes good power I have one in a F350 but they are gas hungry no matter what you do and I was never impressed with my dads ecoboost although it was a early one.

The problem is they (manufactures) are all trying to get better fuel economy. Some of it is forced on them, and so many people think that 1-3 MPG will actually matter to them. Really unless you are doing 25,000 a year that little difference means next to nothing in your fuel budget.

The new motors have been out for 3 years now and the Expe still has the old turd 5.4??
That's weird. Surprised they sold any. Can't believe they do t at least have the 5.0.

I would seriously consider one with the Ecoboost. I have pulled with the Ecoboost and it pulls like a scaled down turbo diesel. The torque curve would be great for a hefty rig like the Expedition. I am hoping they make it an option in the Expedition and not just in the Navigator like the rumors are saying...
