??? for the plumbers

Need to replace a toilet and was wondering what to buy. Menards has a Mansfield on sale for 118 says it has a 3" flushing vavle. Are these any good or do they plug up frequently. Dont want a toilet that is plugged all the time.:(:(:( Any info would be appreciated.

i am not a plumber but i do work at a plumber/contractor supply house. i think the menards ones are o.k. the bigger the flush valve the better it usually is. you may also want to look at the size of the trapway, (that is the intestine looking thing you see on the side of most toilets) if that is 2" or bigger it should work good. otherwise call a plumbing shop and see if you can buy an american standard or a gerber from them. the top of the line american standard is the champion model. the top of the line gerber is the viper model.

Mansfield toilets are ok for economy toilets. The 3" flush valve is a bonus. I have no experience with the model you asked about. I have to disagree with ^^^^^ on the American Standard toilets. You have to be careful which one you choose and DO NOT BUY A CADET TOILET. They are JUNK!!!! I have had to replace about 1 in 3 toilets because they will not flush water let alone solids. By far the best flushing toilets I have came across are Kohler toilets with a Class 5 or Class 6 flushing system. The class 5 is good but the class 6 will be cleaner in the end. If you want trouble free, spend the money to get a good toilet.
