IS the shell on this the same as the XXL? thought I read that somewhere and that you could change out the liner to make it an XXL? Also what year is it?

Yes. As far as i know the shell is the same, just need to unbutton and change out the padding inside to make it into a xxl. It is last years model, F4. Bought last year at haydays.
