Foot Hooks

Can those things be modified?

I wear a 14 boot and my feet get stuck in there tight. Have ridden a few friends Pro's and that was my #1 complaint. Fell off one and my foot was stuck in there about tore my knee apart.

( I have a '14 Summit SP ). The pro's seemed to balance on edge easier for me and felt more stable.

But with how small/tight the foot hooks are up front there is no way I would ever buy one.

Edit: Not sure if I asked this in the right section I have ridden and '11 , '14, and '15 PRO. Not sure if the '15 was new chassis or if the foot hooks are diffrent in '16 ( haven't paid attention latley )

BM Fab makes an easy to install foot-loop for the 2011-2015 ProRide RMK/Pro-RMK...

Sadly, not yet for the AXYS.

2011-2015 ProRide-Chassis, all the same.

2016 is the new Axys-chassis.

Which one are you asking about?

after my friend got his foot stuck in the hook, and just avoided surgery for his broken ankle, I just hacked the hook off the sled. warranty can get bent if it saves my leg.

Crazy.. why are they so small on the Polaris? my Summits are roomy but i can still lift my toe up and hook it if i want to.

Oh I am wearing Klim Arctic boots in size 14 so maybe i'm just a mutant with big boots?

CO... there are a lot that, because of riding style or just body position, dont have an issue same as you...BUT.... a lot do have issues and some have had some injuries from it from the descriptions they have given on this very forum.

The first year of the PRO RMK, back in 2010 when we were invited out for the first demo ride... A good friend we were riding with told the engineers there that that he thought the loops would be an issue...BACK THEN....

IMO... for a lot of people it still is, and I'm glad that people like Bryan at BM Fab are working on solutions to open this up for people that need it.

I have Smaller Klim Adrenaline boots... and those can get stuck as well.

Glad to hear you don't have issues with your jumbo boots though as I would not want anyone to have knee issues or other injuries.

I wear size 14 Klim boots and have been riding the Pro or Axys for the last three seasons. I don't have any trouble... Most riding requires feet out of the holes for proper position. I am not sure why some people have trouble but most do not?

Yea i don't even know how my feet end up stuck in there but they do.. i normally don't have them in there but they somehow find their way in.

Actually got mine stuck in my ski doo and they are much larger the other day..in some crazy sequence of events my sled rolled i jumped off somehow as i was jumping my foot got stuck in there with my knee all twisted around.

I've had my boot hang twice in the first 100 miles I've ridden my '15 Pro. Got dragged but not hurt. I'd like to just chop the loops out completely but they look structural. Can they be chopped without issue?

Never had the problem on my 11 Pro, have the 16 Axy's and now twice over the bars and each time foot is stuck in the foot well and knee twisted, Hobbled around now for a couple of weeks and here are my thoughts as to why.
Got the lower bars on the 16.
Steering post is more forward than my 11.
I like to ride to far forward.
Klim Boa boots., higher toe than my old boots.

Spoke with Dan from Skagit Valley Polaris, he suggested the following.

Change the bars back to the standard height. Great dealer did not charge me a dime. Also replaced my throttle block as I broke it when I took flight, No charge ! Thanks Dan.

Rolled the bars back two inches, seems to set me too far back from my preferred position, guess I will know on Friday.

Also considering blocking off the foot wells completely as when I do something stupid ( drive into a hole ) I tend to slide forward then over the bars. As for me If It happens again I fear it would be the end of my riding days and dread the thought of surgery and a long recovery. Is there a fix for this issue of stuck feet / twisted knees.

I hit a hidden land mine last week and was ejected, except my right foot somehow got caught and I was dragged until the sled stopped.
My boot was lodged sideways and I could not free it no matter how hard I tried.

Luckily the snow was soft and no damage to myself but had to wait til my riding buddies caught up with me to free my foot.
I had feared this since my first Pro in 12, I may look into modifying mine . (Motorfist Stomper boots) btw

Exact same thing happend to me on my 2004 rev my big klim boot got stuck in the hook as i came up sideways straight up in a ditch revene and tried to bail and my foot got stuck man was it ever scary, the second before i hit the ground i literally thought i was gonna break my leg clean in two since boots like that usually let/make your leg break instead of your ankle and ended up having to get my sled dug out by two other sledders close by and had to go to hospital with my knee the size of a baseball. happened a time also a week before that and the sled dragged me 10-20 feet but was only minor and literally couldn't get my boot out. hacked them right off after that. I actually have go pro videos of both incidents.

This was the first time it happend the week before from my best buddy and riding buddies point of view just skip to 2min...literally i had to take my foot out of the shoe and we still couldn't get the shoe out.

This is the second time which made me hack them off, also skip to 2mins, you can see the sled go crooked to the side and i caught a small stump under the skid then went to bail and has a tried to bail off to the side my foot got caught and went into the ditch as my body was also rotated 180 away from the sled. Was quite the painful ride home and a not so fun trip to the hospital. thank god those other 2 sledders were there to help me i literally couldnt even stand or walk even hurt having my foot on the running board just sitting down to ride.

Happened to me first time I rode a dragon. As far as foot placement goes, I agree that most of the time the best riding position is back a step from the footwell. But, when I am going down hill and make the transition to turn side hill, I bury the foot that will be on the uphill side into the footwell, that is where I worry.

So I threw the B&M hoops on, no worries now. However, it is not a "easy" install. You have to drop the skid and if you don't have pneumatic tools, that job can be a bear. Those skid bolts don't come out easy with a ratchet.

Also, we need Mike Taylor to make us new footwell vents for the new setup.

Mike.... you there? I'll take pics and measurements for you.

Here's an answer for you, guys: Everett Ankle Savers. I run them and they work awesome. They fit on all Pro RMKs and AXYS RMK sleds and take about 20 minutes to install with no modifications of your sled.

Bought a set on Thursday, won't have them for a few more day's. For the time being I cut two pieces of 2 x 4 bolted them in the foot well, redneck in for sure, it works for now. Noticed a few things during the ride.

My feet seem to naturally slide forward when going down hill, could feel the toe of my boot hitting the 2 x 4, before the redneck mod I did not notice the progressive foot slide forward during descents, so at the least I will know when my posture is or has slipped to much when the front of the boot presses against the stop, hope the end of twisted knees.
