Foil tape heat shield alternative?

So I am just getting my sled cleaned up and ready for winter and was wondering if there is anything else that I could use for heat shield. I tore off all of the foil tape that I had around wiring and my injectors and it looks so much better without it on I would like to find something else. Is there anything else that works? I just don't want my motor to look like a giant television antenna when I lift the hood. Any suggestions?

Heat tape reflects the heat, that is why it is shiney foil. If the shield is dark it will work as a heat absorbant.

You could fab up some metal heat shields, but there use may be restricted by space.

SLP sells an insulated sleeve of different dia. that works really well.

For other applications I like to use, I believe its "MSR's" heat sheild for a # plate on dirt bikes. It has an adhesive back goes on the backside of the plastic to protect it from the silencer. Also works really well.

Best stuff I have used is this:

Most car performance shops have it.

I think he's trying to get away from the foil look all together. Although I have seen MH with that flashy yellow stuff wrapped on his ears as he looks to the heavens for other signs of life. Looked good on him. lol.

I used this stuff CLICKY the thing is you have to use the velcro closure if there is any sort of plastic connector on the end of the wiring or slip on the cover then re-connect the terminals. I also used this stuff to go over my pull rope to protect it from rubbing on my turbo charge tube. Working good so far. That link has several products worth looking at for all sorts of applications. Good luck. EW

Here's a pic of the stuff over my pull rope. You'll also see a protector for the coolant hose that zip ties on. They work good too for that kind of stuff.

I was given a partial S.S. truck rocker panel kit. Thought that shiny metal would come in handy sometimes and yes it has been awesome. I use it for heat shields, clutch guards to stop the XP clutch from gouging out the side cover, I made a snow deflector for the air intake etc. It has a sticky 3M backing that comes off with by torching the shiny side and peeling away. I had it over the M-6 injectors as a heat shield aswell. can be cut with heavy scissors too.
