Flowmaster or Magnaflow?

I am going to get new exhaust for my quiet azz 98 silverado(5.7) I have been looking at youtube and asking around for months now. I am torn between magnaflow or flowmaster(super 40's) I dont want to be stupid loud, I just want a low, deep, kinda loud rumble at the stoplight to impress the chicks.:D I need to know what you guys think. thanks........:beer; for ya

I have always used flowmasters..put a set of magna flows on 1 customers nice big block..sounded good but I think flowmasters have a nicer rumble too them...

I did a magnaflow single on my F-150 5.4L and love it. Nice sound when I get on it, nice low rumble at idle, and don't hear it on the freeway.

apples and oranges

The flowmaster is a baffled type muffler that works off of pulses, the magnaflow is a strait through design with fiberglass packing. If you want a raspy aggressive tone then i would suggest the flowmaster, if you want a mellow hallow growl then id go with the magnaflow. Keep in mind the diameter of the pipe makes a big difference to. The larger the pipe leading into the muffler, the more air the muffler gets. Works the same for the tail pipe. The bigger the tail pipe the more space for sound to travel:beer;:beer;

if you are planning future mods like a bigger cam, blower, etc... I'd go with the magnaflow... on a stock motor I'd go with the classic 3 chamber flowmasters... imho, nothing sounds better, but the magnaflow will give you more performance options down the road and will still sound pretty decent...

I've got a Magnaflow system on my Powerstroke. When you get into it, it barks pretty good. Otherwise it's not really much louder than stock. I've heard a few other brand systems and I think some of them have a little better sound then mine. I've been thinking about trying to score a few different mufflers and throwing them on just to try them out.

hmmmm of the two, id prefer Flowmaster.

IMHO,
I think the 5.7s sound better with true dual straight pipes out the back or even dumped out the side:D Depends on how much your willing to spend?

dont think your gas mileage will increase any 'cause, you'll want to hear it, lol.

ya, thats what my friend did on his 93 chevy. no cats, no mufflers, just straight pipe all the way back, sounds good but way to freaking loud when he stomps on it. good at idle and moderate acceleration but just stupid at high rpms, plus, you can burn motors down from lack of backpressure cant ya??

i havent heard anything about burning them down but i do admit is is pretty loud when you stomp on it

ya, dont get me wrong, I love loud trucks, but there is a fine line in the kind of tone I like, I dunno, I gotta make a decision though......I am leaning toward flowmasters. My truck stock is true dual to the muffler, so should I get one new muffler, or go true dual all the way to the tips??
