DENVER, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- All three fugitive Dougherty siblings from Florida were captured in Colorado Wednesday after a 100-mph car chase, law enforcement officers said.
"The Dougherty Gang" was arrested after their vehicle crashed, The Denver Post reported.
Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, apparently was shot in the leg during the arrest, the report said. Also arrested were brother Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21, and half-brother Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26.
Police said the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 were closed at mile marker 53 north of Walsenburg, near where the crash occurred.
The siblings had been on the run since Aug. 2, when police said they shot at an officer who tried to pull them over in central Florida. Five hours later they allegedly robbed a bank in Valdosta, Ga., where one fired an assault rifle into the ceiling as they came through the front door, the Post said.
Another sibling also was armed with some type of automatic rifle, while the third collected the cash, the Post reported.
The siblings fled the bank in a 2006 Subaru sedan. The Post said officials believe it was the same car spotted in Colorado Springs about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Gazette in Colorado Springs reported the FBI had talked with employees of REI near Woodmen Boulevard and Interstate 25. Officials said they believe the siblings purchased a tent and left the store, a store employee said.
The Post said a customer in the REI parking lot called police to report a possible sighting of the fugitives, and Colorado Springs police issued alerts.
Ryan Dougherty was accused of sending hundreds of explicit texts to an 11-year-old girl he met on Myspace, the Post said, and has 14 previous felonies.
Lee Dougherty had recently worked as a stripper at a Cocoa Beach, Fla., club called Cheaters. The Post said she had been arrested five times on hit-and-run charges and also has a number of misdemeanor arrests and convictions.
Dylan Dougherty Stanley has previous arrests on misdemeanor marijuana-possession charges, the Post said.
