floating the secondary

I know plenty of people out there have done it, im just curious who has and what kinda results your getting. im riding a 05 rt 1000, so i know that thing puts a hurting on belts as it is, and the motor torques plenty so it seems like a good $23 investment, if it does even a little bit it would be really nice as the belts are all like $100 for my sled.

I run it on my 800 REV for cheap insurance.
I never really had a belt heat issue...They'd get pretty warm but not untouchable.
With Duck's floater they don't even get very warm really.

thats good to hear, i also have a DJ clutch kit, and some big side vents, and she still gets pretty toasty, to hot to touch after any reasonable amount of WOT

x2 for Duck's floater. Been using it for 2 seasons and it sure helps. Better belt wear, way less belt dust and cooler clutch temps.

I've done around 30 of Ducks kits to various sleds, and EVERY single one of them had less belt dust after this kit was installed....

dootalk guy. thats his username, its duck899 i think or whatnot, another guy sells em for $23 shipped on dootalk, and its under the shopping tab stuff by dootalkers. about half way down. simple and if it helps belt life at all i need that, as 2-3 $100 belts a season is a hard hit on the wallet just for belts.

and plumnuts, it seems most people claim mutch cooler clutch temps, which would result in more power if anything, as mechanical engery doesnt just disapear, it turns to either heat or light, and the second aint to much a problem on sleds. not trying to pick a fight, but again, i think most have said it on here, i dont sled on a dyno much.

Is this the same thing? I found one on eBay and it is $23.00

we saw a little (2-3) HP loss on the dyno.. so we don't

yep although the concept is good the problem is: if the secondary floats + or - .06 and is off center and you grab a handful it won't align under torque.

Belt heat if from bad calibration. ex: slipping belt. Cords out of the belt is from misalignment. just my .02

Good of ya to stop by Duck, Lots of folks are wanting info on yer kit!

We usually just send 'em to DOO Talk but you should chime in here more often.
Just beware of a guy named Graveler. He's a cross dresser!

Here is what mine looks like.....

How much actual lateral movement does this spacer allow ?? On the old F-chassis and S-chassis they had a similar set-up from the factory but you still needed to have your pulley alignment very close because the rear pulley only floated about 1/8th inch.

I've seen one sledding buddy from here on SW just run with no secondary bolt. Ran fine!

Then I found it laying in his belly pan the next morning and we put it back on. ;)

no bolt required.....lol

A guy who bought a spacer sent me a video of his sled running without the hold down bolt in place on the secondary to prove a point that the secondary does move under load. I've also done tests with my clutch side panel removed and the guard gone when running across a lake.....secondary moves in and out as you accelerate.....
