Float/skid Plate?

Just wondering how many of you are going with a float or a skid plate on your Pros. I had a skinz float plate on my Dragon and could never really tell if it helped my performance or not. As far as added protection, I never had an experience to know if it helped or not. Let me know your thoughts on this one.

i put them on for protection, not for floatation. now where i ride here in the northeast is alot different from the west. our stumps and rocks don't get quite as much coverage as yours out there. i have ridden both with and without skids and never noticed a difference in regards to floatation.

I'd say that it can't hurt flotation. I do it for protection, and every sled that I've ever had has benefitted from a skid plate.

which one is everyone using? the polaris one seems to cover less while skinz covers more, but it really just extends out over the a-rms from the looks of it. i tend to buy the oem ones over aftermarket as with alot of things aftermarket stuff can be a pain in the ***. thier tolerances seem to be off in many cases and you end up drilling and swearing and hammering to get **** to fit right.

I went with the Polaris one...

Didn't have to worry about fitment..

Also Narrow Narrow narrow.. Less of a area for snow to build up on..

Less Weight!

I had the Skinz plate on my Dragon and went with one for my 2011 RMK. The fit is perfect and it gives more protection than the Polaris one, the only negative I can see is that it creates a shelf under the A arms to collect snow.

When I installed the skins plate, the rivets lined up perfectly. I like the added protection that extends partway onto the arms themselves.
