Doesn't look like a new PC is in my card$ this year so going to make the best of the attack 20. But I can't decide if I should reverse it or not....today with unusually icy/hardpack conditions hook up was pretty poor with it in the powder position.

So my question is, since we don't get much fluff out here, and this tracks specific purpose is supposed to be light and deep, is it a no brainer to run it in the hillclimb position? Our deep powders days are often with denser snow and we see "spring conditions" sometimes in Jan when the pineapple rolls through. sounds like it might just trench a little more if we get some champagne and look out on the way down...
 
I personally don't think the powder position works at all. I would never run in anything but hillclimb position. Our Colorado snow is light and fluffy until May and I have never had a trenching problem with the A20 in hillclimb. It would be a no brainer for me.
 
rode mine in the powder mode 2-3 times every time i would get to the top after spinning the whole way up i would go back down the hil wrecked my hood my bars and my air box flipped the track and love it. it is a little sketchy going down but the a20 isnt that bad of a track you just gotta make sure you dont lock it up or your in for one hell of a ride
 
flip it and straighten the lugs with heat and vise grips with flat bar welded to them it works good it also stops better if you do that
 
Definetly run it in the hillclimb position but straighten it first like was mentioned. The snow I ride in 90% of the time is dry sugary stuff and hillclimb pos. worked night and day better than the powder pos. In the wet heavy snow it is even better yet. If cat would have ran the track this way to begin with, there would have been a heck of a lot more happy king cat and m7 owners. This track worked piss poor in any snow or condition that I can think of when it was in the powder position. People that say it trenches more are the ones that run it in the powder pos. for a while and then turn it around without straightening the lugs.

As you ride in BC and WA, you know we get hard snow around here and ride in the trees quite a bit as well. It is very common to have to go through a band of pretty techy trees in hard snow to get to good riding in the alpine. I ran an A20 in hillclimb position for one day and almost killed myself going down a couple hills that I had ridden many times before with a normal track. It was downright dangerous. Anyone who says they work fine going downhill hasnt ridden technical PNW trees. I have ridden for a long time and like to think I can control a sled downhill, but I had absolutely no control with that POS track. You will do way more damage to your sled then the cost of a Powerclaw or Maverick if you loose it in the trees. I put a Maverick track on my 05 M7 for 350 and it works awesome, maybe not as light as a powerclaw, but 350 new?? no brainer. Cut the A20 up and nail it to your sled deck for traction, that is all its good for.
 
Build some of these and straighten it out in the HC position !

I had ac 20 and experince with slipping and almost totaled my seld more than once.Good results from cutting the flap off,I cut it and gained traction with same performence.Best thing I could have done tell I picked up the pc track.Power is worthless without traction......JMO:D

oh come on now you didn't think i was serious:) i found a lead on a PC for $650, follow me. from what i'm hearing about the A20 i'de be lucky to give it away!

Don't fret the A20 for Wa. snow in Hillclimb (very respectable for Whistler, Revy snow conditions also). I rode one for three years and thought it was a great track. If my new sled did not have a PC, I would be putting a Attack 20 on that one also.

that's how i run mine , i cut the very top of the lugs off aprox. 1/4" then installed 1 1/4" snow studs (screws) purchased from local dealer . these are made for tracks. when you get to the icey top that have been wind blown you'll go right over the top with lots off traction and speed!!!!!
in the past i to got to the top of a hill in the powder position and rolled the sled along way down the mt. side. run it this way you'll never regret it.
 
I've never rode in Washington or Canada, but I do have a A20 that's reversed and straightened. It work's wonderfully in the Idaho Powder. I run a A20 on a modded 800 Escape and I have a Challenger on a 700 Edge. The A20 rules in soft snow, and it hooks up better in a climb on set up snow, but the Challenger is better going down.

The PC on my 1000 is the best of both worlds. My nieghbor just ordered a new PC for $550 from Tracks USA.
