Flatlanders heading west - couple ??

Two buddies going west to the snowies. One has stock 03 rev 600. He's been there before. All he did was rejet and changed cal screws. He said it was great. But wondering if changing pins would help. Other guy has new xp 600. was going to do the same to it. Wondering if it would get them by. Both are short tracks. Either one don't want to invest much for a couple days.
Any ideas would be great. Thanks
 
go to dealer look in service manual and see what it calls for. pin weight and primary sping will be most important. run about $80
 
eh they will be fine as long as there isn't more than 2 feet of fresh. Depends on how far west your going...if you are only going to black hills or big horns you wont have to worry, there aint too much snow there
 
Probably be more fun if you leave the short tracks home and rent mountain sleds. The money you save from maintenance, gas, wear and tear on your equipment could easily be used for rental of a late model mountain sleds for the rockies.
Nevermind, you would just want to get rid of yours when you get home anyway after riding the steep and deep.
 
Last weekend here in Idaho I saw some Rev 440's do quite well on the hill. I mean nothing like my M8 but I was kind of impressed on how those short tracks did. The snow was at least 2ft of powder on a good base. I am not saying they will high mark but they can at least have some fun on their own sleds.
 
I actually enjoy my 440 out west. I got around better than buddy with switchback 700. BUT my next is going to be a summit. Thinking around a 146" Just having hard time getting rid of the 440. Rev Baron built it and did a amaizing job
