Im thinking of buying one for my.2005 crewcab longbox gmc k3500 duri duelly....since it rides like a dump truck..im leaning towards a all steel one for the extra weight..im thinking a 8.5'wide by 11' long.to fit 2 long tracks of course..and also for towing the usual 5th wheel and bumper pull trailers..who has them..and how do you like them.give me your likes and dislikes...at the least im going 9' long.thanx in advance..chris

A buddy has a silverlake mfg bed on his truck(exact same as yours), its so friggin sweet i cant say enough about it. I dont think there is any downfall to it.

Pros-
ramps built in
hauls two sleds
holds 3 bikes
gooseneck hitch
etc etc

cons-

the ONLY downfall is scum can see what they are going to steal next WAY too easy!! With a box, things are hidden better.

and I did ditch my summit out the side once when a tie-down broke on a hard corner; everyone involved got excited!! other than that, I love mine.

If you get too long of a flatbed it makes pulling a fifth wheel ugly if the trailer has a shorter neck. I have a 8.5 ft fb and my camper hitch almost has to be behind the rear axle to have enough room to clear the corners when I turn. It makes pulling my camper ugly with no weight on the steer axle! Just something to keep in mind when ordering one.

I put a steel 8ft x 9ft on my 2002 f350 crew cab and couldn't be happier.Put air bags on to level when loaded.Rides and drives better than when the bed was on.Only down side is no storage under it except for the ramp.

ramp ideas

where and how are you happy flatbed users storing/using your ramp? That is my only hangup to experimenting with this system. Any photos and input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I wiil try to get picks tomorrow. I set my bed just high enough to be able to slide it in under the bed.I Have an 8ft. tri fold ramp.
