anyone ever do any flat track racing?

Our MC is putting on a race this weekend with an open knobbies fun class. Think I'm gonna give it a try...even though I won't win on a 1 2 and 5(anohter guy is running a 500) I'd like to make a showing. So any tips? Other then brake sliding and clutching.

sink the fork in the clamps to lower the front end. wrap a 1/4" cable around your swingarm and the other end to the subframe.....to lower the rear. soften the rear shock as much as you can and dump the preload. gearing will depend on the size of track, as does the amount you may want to pinch the pipe.......throttle is your friend!

ps, don't be scared of a 500, your size is your friend. joe kopp used t bea the pants off of everyone on his 80's.......in a bunch of classes. the big 500 can be a handfull if it hits wrong in a corner, you onthe other hand should be able to stay tapped.

just great fun, started flat track in the early 50's, (yes we did have bikes than), ran thru the early 60's most fun were the 1 mile ovals, started in Spokane wash and than went back east, picked up a full factory ride with the Indian factory (they were really royal enfields with Indian logos) spent 4 years there, than back to Spokane are. dirt track was really the best , did road racing but did not enjoy it, Still get the chills when I watch the Springfield mile......lots different now.................
