Flat Lander needs Help

Hi Utah Riders,
New to the forum so nice meeting you all, so to speak. My wife and I maybe relocating to the Ogden area do to a new job opportunity. Wanted to know what people thought of that area, how close to riding are you around there? Being from Wisconsin, we never rode the Mtns before since we are "Height Challenged" here in Wis so looking for advice on where to go riding/places to see/places to avoid/clubs to join. Any advice is welcome since we know practically nothing about the area other than what we see on line. Might be time to upgrade the sleds to some long tracks and go deep.:D

Been there, done that!

Sell the short tracks before you move! We moved from the Northeast 2+yrs ago. There is no market here for used short tracks. I actually did that and bought a long track back east and dragged it out here and did great! On another note, SNowbull, from 2nd st in Ogden, don't ride with him. You will total your first sled!!:D Awesome guy, look him up on DT as well.
SW, great forum, great people (in general, a few haters). Lot's of people ride out of the Ogden area, you'll do fine!

You are moving to the heart of some pretty amazing riding. One hour and you are in some of the best riding anywhere! As said, dump the shorties back East and maybe buy some long tracks out here. Prices are very low for good, used sleds out here right now.

Be carefull in what part of Ogden you buy or rent your home. Some parts are ghetto. Like what others have said you are any where from 20 minutes (Farmington) to 1 hour (Tony's/ chalk creek) of some of the best riding that Utah has to offer.

Thanks all for the quick replies. Wife and I will have to make a trip out to get the lay of the land and to make sure we don't end up in the wrong part of town. We're both Country folks, living on 7 acres now, so would be nice to find some place out of town with some land or at least good toy storage.

Living in Ogden your closest riding area will be Monte, Farmington and Bountiful. Monte will be a perfect place for you to get your feet wet with mountain riding. If you know your way around there you can find some twisted stuff but for the most part its mild compared to other riding areas. But within 1 hour of ogden you can find a wide variety of different areas to ride. Most of which are some of best areas in the state to ride! Welcome to Utah! and our powder is second to none!

If your looking for that, and not knowing your budget......you will want to look in such places as....
Willard
Perry
Farr West
Plain City
Hooper
Clinton
West Haven
Slaterville
Eden
Huntsville
Liberty

That is all the neighboring towns to Ogden that can offer you some rural space.:face-icon-small-hap

Welcome........I am in Ogden. (the not so ghetto part, but kinda ghetto):D

East Bench

Welcome to Utah!:beer;

You can ride within an ½ Hour to an hour and a half for Great riding. There are a lot of rural areas around Ogden, Head west.

Start workin out. Mountain riding will wear you out!:D

Hey Milljk, welcome to Utah. Like the others have mentioned, all the best mountain riding has to offer within an hour.
Do your homework before you buy real estate here. All is not created equal in this neck of the woods. We have a vast range from drug and gang neighborhoods to multi-million dollar HOA's, all within a very short distance from one another, separated by blocks, not miles.
Good luck, chime in when you get ready to ride I am sure someone here would love to show you around the mountains.

Right on guys!

I moved out here about 4 years ago from ND and will never go back. Utah has that effect on imports. The first year or so people would ask "think you will stay here?" and I would always reply with "I'm not sure yet." Now the answer to that question is "Probably never."

tons of riding areas around here. Monte would be a good place to start, once you get comfortable with where everyone goes up there I will show you some secret less known spots out there.

Send me a PM and I will give you some more information.

Ask Sunridge why we moved here?

"To Mob the Pow" and of course have lunch at the "milf cafe"!:D
