Seems like a lot of the avalanches that kill folks are doing it by causing internal injury.
Any idea how many of these deaths could have been avoided if the victim had been wearing a flack jacket (chest/back/vitals) protector?
Has there been a study done to see what the mode of death was- IOW what part of the body is typically injured so much as to cause death by trauma?
I'm no doctor (nor do I play one on the internet or TV) but I have taken lots of advanced first aid classes and recall that in most accidents death is caused by shock. Is there a way riding buddies can be taught methods to reduce shock for avy victims?
