Fit on Nytro MTX Trail tank

So how do you know which one your buying?? I'd consider one but after seeing some of the pics...no way:eek:

you have seen these pics...and they are of the old tank...have not taken pics of the new one...

a LOT has to do with the persons precision in installing the tank too...even the old one had good installs and bad...but if you had an old one, you can get it to fit well pretty easily, you just have to undo two of the bolts on the upper frame piece, then the tank slides in, and does not cause any interference...just takes undoing some bolts...

but here is pic of old tank on my MTX, will try and get a newer pic up..

Post some pics please. I sold the old version and would consider putting in the newer version if they fit better.

I hate to be the one that is not happy BUT I have the new tank and I was not impressed. I have the tank ALL the way forward and still cannot get the hood screws to line up. I had to velcro the hood on. I also have the mcx upgrade kit. If u have the upgrade kit the 2 fuel lines WILL NOT fit in the groove in the tank.

I love having the extra capacity and thats the only reason it is staying on my sled.

If a person could figure out a different way to secure the hood in place it would be better. The screws are a PITA. The VELCRO is also a PITA but alot quicker and it has to be changed out every couple weeks:beer;

The one I put on was a tight fit as is but the rear mount turbo made it a bear to get in with all the extra hoses and such.

I have the latest one for the midmount Northwest Turbo kit and it is a tight fit but all the hood screw lined up and it clears the turbo and hoses well. Fuel guage had to be modified to fit and only goes down to 1/4 tank and stops but at least you have some indication. I got the black version as white ones tend to look like crap soon after install and fuel goes bad quicker.

I have the MCX kit on mine, is the new style a good fit for it with the extra lines and such???

If you have just the regular MCX kit, the plastic will fit over the tank good. If you have the upgraded mcx kit, the plastic will not fit over the tank very good. The upgrade kit adds another fuel line to the existing fuel line that goes down to the tank. There is just not enough room to squeeze the 2 lines, so the plastic is higher on the side that the lines are on.

Thanks for the input guys, these sleds are way too fun to ride, I go through more fuel than I ever have, just can't stand still watching everybody else.

Cheers

Dont get me wrong here. I am still very glad I bought the trail tank. It sucks running out of gas and if u carry 2 or 2.5 gallons with this tank u will not run out.
It just dont look good if you have the mcx upgraded kit. The reg. mcx kit will be fine with this tank.

The new tanks fit fine. Seth at Trailtank is a great guy to work with. I had trouble with the old style tank, he took it back, replaced it with a new one. Great customer service.

Give him a call at 503-318-3139.

Drinkwyo. I had the same problem as you with the tank. Upgraded MCX and the hoses dont fit. I found a solution. I think it is MPI has a billet fuel return fitting that will return the fuel to where the fuel gauge assembly is located on the side of the tank. I do not have one my self but I did see it somewhere.

The new tank fit into position nicer then the stock one. I did however have some problems with the hood lining up to the screw holes in the tank, all I did was trim the front of the hood where it hooks into the cowl and trim the two tabs that hook into the dash. this allowed the hood to come back further. I do hate the thumb screws tho!!

We have found if installing a fuel pump kit with the newer trail tank it will not clear the lines and we have made a spacer for this if anyone needs the spacer for the newer style tank please call me at 888-649-4609 ext 121 and i have them in stock and ready to ship thanks skyler
