First Time to WY

This will be my first time to the mountains and planning a trip to the snowies and just wanted some insite on where to stay and rent from, I was thinking the albany lodge or Snowy mountain lodge, will most likley need a guide, but just not really sure who to stay and rent with. Any info would be nice, Thank You

What type of riding do you want to do?
Highmarking, meadow hopping, trail riding, etc.

Albany lodge is farther south.
From there you can do a LOT of tree running and meadow hopping. You can rent sleds from there and they can arrange a guide for you. There is no real highmarking out of albany. You would have to travel by trail 40 miles north to get to the steep. Despite what some think, there is not a lot of difference in snow depth totals between Albany and Snowy mountain lodge (few inches total).

Snowy Mountain Lodge is located farther north and Real close to the steep. You can rent sleds and they can arrange guides for you there also. From there you can access large open areas to ride as well and do some climbing. The main drawback is CROWDS. It is the most crowded area on the mountain. Most of the trails out of and around there are beat to chit by 10 am.

Get a hold of Joe at snowcross338.. He is a licensed guide for the Snowy Range and can get you hooked up on everything you need. Joe is a local and knows where to go and get you away from the crowds. He will take you to what ever type of riding you and your crew want to do. Have FUN.. DC
