first time to valemount

hey first time ever going to valemount or mountain riding, any tips for this place. Places to stay? do I need permits ,what else can you guys help out with.

i always stay in mcbride at the north country good sleder parking great food at the restaurant.then you can sled both there & valmount not to far to drive.

It's a Super 8. If you haven't ever stayed at a Super 8 then I can't help you any further. Allen Creek is the most popular area, it's 39 km south of town if I'm not mistaken. Lots of hillclimb terrain and challenging tree riding if you want to beat the crowds. 8km to the cabin. Chappell creek is 20k further south and thus it's comparatively quiet. 26k to alpine, no cabin but incredible meadow riding if you hit the snow right. If it's the sunny day after a big puke I'd go there while the snow stabilizes on the steep stuff at Allen.

We usually stay at the best western in valemount. Nice restaurant in the hotel as well as a pool and hot tub. There is also a decent parking lot that is locked at night and under video surveillance. Theres also power so you can plug in your trailer/truck if need be.

If your a beginner rider, clemina creek is a good area for beginners. 17km trail to the cabin and another 4km to the alpine. Allan creek is a fun area too with a short ride in.. Only 9km to the cabin and lots of techinical tree riding! Chappell creek is a longer trail in, believe its 26km and no cabin but still a good place to ride and usually gets some good pow!
