Hey special attention to all of you family people who might be looking for a fun activity associated to riding.
Check out the Burgdorf Hotsprings which is about 20 trail miles NW from the Francis Wallace parking lot at the end of the lake on Warren Wagon Highway (actually a mile or so from the highway..watch for the sign at about 20 miles on your trail left). In the past it has been operated by people that had ZERO NONE NOTTA business dealing with the general public. Now there is new management and we visited the place on Saturday and it's WONDERFUL. All of the the trash and junk has been removed...the place is really cleaned up.. they removed the fourteen NO this and that signs that those crazy people had put up SQUASHING ALL FUN of any kind. IT WAS SUPER COOL AND THE KIDS and ADULTS ALL HAD A BLAST! The best news is that my personal "lifetime ban" has been lifted. I toasted my enjoyment to a delicious cold beer while I visited the place and it was nice!
The new manager is Dave and he took special attention to make sure everyone felt welcome and wanted us to pass the word that there is a whole new attitude at Burgdorf and it shows.
He has filtered sled fuel, is working on bringing in food, they have rental cabins, and most importantly a happy welcome attitude. There is some incredible riding out past the hotsprings and now you can refuel. Not a bad program to bring family and dump them off to swim while the more extreme in the group go free riding in areas normally not hit that hard because it's so far from the parking lot.
Hopefully Dave can get a kitchen deal going up there. Burger, beer, soak and ride is one of better deals in life. With Warren and Sesash not operating or having fuel this opens back up one of the really fun aspects of winter in McCall.
