Hey guys, I have never been riding in colorado and neither have any of my buddies, i am just wondering where a good place would be to go that is farthest north and east as possible. I will be coming from Michigan and my buddies will be coming from north eastern North Dakota. We all have plenty of experience in the west riding we normally go to Island park, Cooke City and the big horns but looking for something different and possibly closer. Current snow conditions and lodging would also be appreciated!! thanks guys!!

Hard pack, Spring. Need cold and fresh bad!

You want riding north East? NE Colorado is plains. Sounds like the Snowies are your answer, unless you want the Bighorns in WY.

thanks for the reply, i was meaning north and east but still in the mountains. sounds like big horns snow is not too great thats why we are looking for something new. We have never been to the snowies either and are looking at that as an option also. any help is much appreciated!

Try Steamboat Lake Outfitters. The snow is deep but we def. need more. What was epic on Sunday was hard on Tuesday. It's snowing now but very heavy and wet.

Wyoming = Snowies
Colorado = Rabbit Ears or as dizz posted above, probably the best conditions in the state right now.
Going to the Ears stay in Steamboat Springs if you want night life or stay in Kremmling if you an inexpensive, quiet nights sleep.
Conditions change by the minute, could be 3 feet of fresh or a baked down mess, actual snow base will be quite sufficient until May. There is over 11 feet of base near the Ears right now. Have a safe trip and stay out of the wilderness and ski boundaries....

Make the extra trip to Thunder Mountain Lodge. It is well worth the drive. Great food, service, lodging, and riding right from the lodge. Doesn't get any better then that. Snow was good this last weekend but as mmax said what was good today could be hard packed tomorrow.

My vote definitely goes to TML. It's worth the drive!!!!!!

Walden Co is only 60 miles south of laramie. You have many options to go from there with buffalo pass usually being the best. You could also ride the snowies, american lakes, or rabbit ears. Buffalo pass is about a 20 miles drive from walden.

I would also recommed north park inn and suites in walden. Dave has ad here on snowest. I would call him and visit with him about conditions as some of the "locals" give us "non-locals" false information to keep us out of the area.

TML better be epic starting tomorrow (Saturday). First time going up to stay and it will be our 31st wedding anniversary. Expecting epic conditions, nothing else will do.
