Ok guys and gals. Most of you already know I picked up a 2004 503 dealer Demo sled (dont think it was ever ridden) a few months back and have been dying to ride it. We finally got a few more inches of snow and was able to take the Hawk out. The first time riding it was amazing. I had a smile from ear to ear and I think the Hawk was just as happy to be out of the garage. I have raced motocross in the past (way past, like 10 years ago). It handles like a dirtbike with many ride characteristics of a jet ski. Let me say this, if you live in the midwest, or anywehre for the matter, and there's not enough snow it will not be "as fun" to ride and trails with little snow could be scarry at times. My first attempt to carve a tight corner almost left me on the ground as the carbides dug into the grass. I was pretty carefull after this, there was only about 6 inches of snow out there. Two days later we got another 9 inches. This is when the Hawk and I REALLY felt comfortable and I was able to toss it all around, hit a few jumps, climb some really steep hills, blast across the lakes and run some tight trails. We bonded that day. Some advise for those who ride on lakes, get some studs or you will likely be sliding down the lake sideways, at least when there is little snowcover. I have only been able to ride it twice and I can say I would never go back to having 2 skiis. My wife rides a brand new Yamaha Phazer 500-4 stroke. I love the motor and the power in it but I feel like I am going to tip the thing over all the time now. All in all, the Hawk has got to be the most fun I have ever had in the winter. I am building a trailer right now and would love to come meet everyone at Hawk Fest!!
