First snowbike, 2011 yz450f

Ok, so I just picked up a 2011 yz450f yesterday for my 2015 MH LT. I have done a lot of reading, see that some people have trouble with gas getting into the oil. I just want to give you guys my list of what I plan on doing to my bike to get it ready and see what you think.

- Thermobob T-stat
- Homemade engine shroud/side blanket
- Some type of Skid plate
- Hand guards ( wrap around woods style or snow "mitt style"?)
- Gonna carry timbersled gas tank on tunnel (will I need more than that?)
-

Will these mods keep the gas out of my oil?
Thanks for any input.

You’re on the right track, I’d add a TrailTech thermometer as well. Get it with correct threads, it’ll thread right into your t-stat. Mount it on your bars and keep an eye on temps.

I used bark buster handguards as well as mitts. It really helps keep your paws warm and dry. I like to wear as thin glove as possible.

I carried a 2.5 gal TuffJug last year, my stock tank (13 yz450) could usually get me about 20 miles (gps) before a fill up.

Oh yes, I forgot to add I already have a trail tech vapor to install. And thanks for the tip on the correct threads, need to order that. Thanks for the reply.

You are going to need to address the air intake as well.

Yes your right. Forgot about that, thanks.

Ok thanks, think ill save stuff like that for next season depending on how it goes this season.

Sure. See how it goes first. I would also recommend some kind of foam to put betwee skid plate and bike, and a cover for the back of your engine. Timbersled throws alot of snow that way. Also some homemade plastic removable radiator covers really help with temps even with a t-bob. Just have to constantly watch your temp gauge and see what works.

Makes sense, thanks.
