First ride on my '09 xp...

After reading all the good and bad I didn't know what to expect from this sled. I really like the way the sled feels. I weigh 130 lbs. The sled is a 154 track 800r. I now have 40 miles on her and don't see any belt issues yet....I will have to say, it did not matter in 2 ft. of powder or on the road both clutches you could cook eggs on with in minutes of easy riding. I have always broke a sled in easy with varying the throttle and stopping to let the clutches cool and to treat the belt. I would agree that the clutches need some help with the heat. Also, I read a post on how snow gets sucked up through the running board when riding in powder. This is also true. I did see snow and water just under the clutches that came up from the hole right by the brake. I am running a cpi can, simmons skis, and have already gave the god awful snow flap some attention. Still need to fine tweek the suspension after feeling how it handled yesterday even though I liked the way it felt, it was not quite right. Sled seemed to have lots of power, especially from mid range up. I think with a little help this will be a really fun sled to ride.

Right now the tail light and tunnel look a little crude. I am planning on polishing the tunnel and tail light, but I had to go for a peel. It is in the near future and I will post to show. What do you guys think of my flap and tail light?

Don't expect the clutches to fix themselves. If they are getting this hot you will start loosing belts. My 08 did the same thing and now it runs cool. Don't think a vent kit is the answer either. If your generating tons of heat, your clutches are not efficient and your loosing power to the track. My sleds problem was clutch alignment and it needed nore weight in the pins. Take off your belt gaurd and look down from above. If you see an obvious dogleg in the belt, you better move the motor or get a jackshaft shim kit.

First Ride

Check your clutch alignment, then get some vents front and rear, let some cool air in and the heat out. Xp's dont leave much room for air to move around the clutches.
