Ok so the story goes
When I was a kid my gma owned a cabin in island park. She lived in Pocatello, and I lived in Blackfoot. Every weekend on her way to the cabin she would pick me up. Started riding when I was prolly 5 yrs old, and continued till she passed in 95 when I was 12. ( I'm 30 now) My aunt ended up with her sled and it sat in her garage under a cover. We moved to boise for my dad's job and haven't been since. I have always had the bug to ride again just didn't have the means to buy all the gear, sleds, trailer, etc. so on my way to rebuild my crappy credit I bought an 04 excursion at a way to high of an interest rate. After about a year of paying on it without a late payment I decided to refinance the beast. Ended up borrowing 3k to buy a sled and trailer from some if the equity, and cut my interest rate in half at the same time. Got talking with my aunt and she told me that if I wanted gmas old sled that I can have it if I came down and picked it up. So needless to say that weekend we got in the truck, put new bearings and tires on the trailer and headed for salt lake.
Being a boat mechanic and wrenching on things from helicopters to ships I knew that an 89 indy sport 340 would be nothing to get running again and I was right. Cleaned carbs, new filter, fuel lines, oil, oil lines, flushed out the tank and she fired up on the 4th pull.
Man I didn't realize how much I missed it till I put my legs over the sled and took off up the trail. Brought back so many good memory's from my childhood. I am so proud to be able to share this with the family! The wife and or son have never had so much fun on snow as they did yesterday. After she got over her fear if riding next to a drop off!! Headed back up today for round 2!!
