First ride bd intercooled

Thanks for the update dmkhnr. Stupid rumors got me! I was told NOT to run avgas. I'm glad I just bought 25 gallons of race gas.

I rode my bd intercooled kit today for the first time, and it was spotless.
8.5# 100% av-gas and no stumbles just crisp throttle.
ALOT more power than the pump gas pro that I had last year.
I'm very impressed.

thats good to hear, 2011 kit with the upgrade? or full 2012 kit?

who said not to run av?

What are you running for clutching and weights? I assume by your other posts this was in cooke? Also just curious to what you were running for numbers?

I was under the impression that you can run avgas, but you will get better performance and less detonation with a race/pump fuel mixture. As I stated before, it was just a rumor. So I could be way off base. Has anyone on here ran avgas @ 3-6k, 8lbs?

i have run av in mine so far this year, as well as my tdragon last year, no issues
im sure plenty of people run av

i was at 6-7000 feet on wednesday, 8 lbs boost, no problem

i plan on going straight AV 10lbs at 4-7k ft

lots if rumors/chatter on av gas one of them being that it is a "low rpm" fuel, i was speaking with the guy at the airport where i buy my gas and they run the av gas in there rotarys and they turn 6500rpm +/-

100% Av, no mixing, good price/octane ratio, just turn up the boost a little. They only downfall seems to be a little slower responding off boost at high elevations. High as in 8-10k. Heck, there is a buddy who only runs 7lbs on an M8 and runs straight av for safety. At 5-6k feet his response is completely fine.

We ran a intercooled BD @ 7.5lbs with 50/50 Av gas on its maiden voyage Wednesday. Ran great. We are going to wait until we have a few more miles to turn it up to 10lbs.

10# all day today, the only thing that I'm seeing is it is hitting 1270 at WOT on big pulls, I'm adding fuel to the top mid/hi numbers to combat this, but once in a while get a rich bog.
The sled runs flawless, and very crisp. I couldn't be happier.

Getting a rich bog and have high temps? I have seen in the past being so rich that I was burning fuel in the pipe and getting super high temps. Leaning it out actually solved the problem. FYI....but obviously be careful with it.

After talking to Jared, he first recommend that I check my plug color but said that he has no problem running the pro at the higher egt, and in fact said that his will hit 1320. When I told him where mine was he said it seems nuts on.

I rode 1 day at island park, and 4 days at cooke and had 0 issues. The sled was as reliable as any stocker.
