First MH ride. Cr 500 with LT

Finally got my setup on the snow today. I had to ride about 10km of road before i got to the goods. My first impression was awful on the trail. I've heard from others posts That the trail is not that fun. The 500 was vibrating also and the 13 tooth sprocket is way to short for the trail.
So I hit the good stuff eventually and what can I say!!
Literally I was speechless. Way to much fun. Like riding a dirt bike with perfect traction and little consequence for a bail! I was riding by myself so I was trying to take it easy as this was my maiden voyage. I didn't take long and I was way past all the sled tracks ripping through some tight burnt timber. Looking
For features I generally try to avoid on the sled.
Unbelievable side hilling capabilities. Pretty much goes straight up
better than my 10 Nytro does. Found some steep side hills and put some
Figure 8's on em. Need to get me a go pro. Took some vid with the iPhone but not worth sharing unfortunately. Very happy and literally can't wait to get out again. Another thing I really like is I'm home and not beat tired like a day of sledding. Got some pics for now to share. Getting a hand me down gopro soon so hope to share some vid as well in the future!
Just need to track down some 1ski riding buddies or convert my riding partners!!

Some side hill tracks of mine going up through the trees!
Good to finally get on the snow!

My set up is pretty basic right now. Stock air box that Iv'e plugged some of the holes with foam, also using the prefilter over stock. Nothing to prevent carb icing at the moment also have the stock carb but I have a pwk 39.5 on the way!
I plan on doing up a Pod filter and I will try to funnel heat from the cylinder into the carb area with some type of enclosure and a carb jacket made out of an old gore tex gaitor. Just got out on the snow and its not that fluffy or cold around here (Cranbrook) at the moment
I've got a Gnarly pipe and powercore 2 silencer. I wrapped the pipe with "pipe wrap".
Im hoping to get some taller gearing sorted out and my engine vibs under control and I'll be happy with 500 !

That's exactly what I build if I went one ski. Nice!

Made it out for a weekday ride (MH ride #2).
Fixed a few issues on the bike (loose motor mount) and the vibrations are tolerable now.
Had a great ride! Can't believe the manouverability of these machines compared to a sled. I poked into a draw I'd never made it into with the sled.
Got to ride a nice descent. Im stoked how the MH rides like big longboard down the mountain. I was able to carve without power assist. Just using gravity and leaning the bike, Yee Haaa!
Here's a few pics

On the engine "vibes". Indy Dan balanced and welded my crank (AF project not MH). Helped greatly.

Nice bike BTW!!

Thanks 4Z, Im planning on putting in a hot rods complete crankshaft mechanism in the off season. They come trued but I dont think they are balanced? I've got a lot to learn about these big 2 strokes yet. I'm pretty happy with the power so far!

If you are going to tear it down why not rebuild the stock crank ? The Hot Rod stuff is good but it is one bearing less than stock. Truing is a must ! Balancing would be cool. Not sure how many shops do balancing though. Im sticking with my stock crank witha Pro X rod.

Millar Racing is doing the rod, porting, decompressor, and some clutch work for me. Adam is straight up and a wicked knowledgable CR500 guru !

Adam did my decomp way back in '07. Worked many deals with him over the years. He is THE man!

i have been talking to Adam quite a bit recently. If you need CR parts he has a friend that has a truckload of parts lol. We are working to get the Smartcarb pulsed which i think will be awesome for the MH kit. It has a pile of torque in the mid range all the way to the top ! Cant wait !
