First impressions - Turbo Nytro

Had a chance to ride my son's Turbo Nytro last weekend in Rabbit ears, Co. It has the Impulse set-up and a 162 x 2.5 track. Typical spring conditions with 2-3 inches fresh snow.

First of all I was very impressed with the turn key operation. Always popped right off, idled smoothly, and was very user friendly. I rode it some in tight trees. Driveability, and handling surprised me. Very easy to get around with, and yes, I know it was well set-up snow, but I can see it translating into very friendly fresh snow boondocking.

Now for the power thing! What a hoot! When you stay out of the turbo it is like riding a stocker, smooth low RPM engagement, good torque. But just ease the throttle open a little bit and hear the turbo start to spool ( easy to hear with that funky intake) when it is sucking good - Nail it and hang on! I didn't spend a whole lot of time on the thing and didn't do much for climbing with it (something about riding someone else's mega $$$ sled for the first time!) but I am anxious for next season already. Thanks, DJ.

You boys are really on to something with these turbos (as if ya didn't know:p)
Looking forward to seeing and riding more of 'em.

Quote, I rode it some in tight trees.

You have to be careful what you say, the ski doo guys still can't believe a yamaha can handle just as well in tight conditions. There is a few threads on here that have been going for months about this. Next they will be asking you what is the distance between trees, what slope were you on, what kind of trees they are, and so on. Any way glad you liked it, I have been running an Impulse kit all year also, when ever I have been in a bad situation the instant throttle response has gotten me right back out, where I would normally have been trenched.

riding thru trees that are spaced from 6' to ski width (or tighter) apart.
some up hills some down hills some flats.
sometimes wot, sometimes just past engagement.
sometimes theres even sidehilling in the trees!
some of the trees are small, some are big, some w/ tree well holes that you could lose a sled in.
sometimes the trees open to meadows though. and sometimes the trees go under the track, sometimes the trees wack you in the head or chest.

i like to ride on snow too sometimes.

It happens to everyone who rides one! You get turbo fever! Most guys that rip them either cant afford one or are scared to ride one cause they have done so much brand bashing in the past!

Ha!! you should see all the naysayers over at DooTalk...now they are ready for a four stroke cuz Doo is building one. If you can believe it, they are even talking about how it will kick the Nytro on the trails...what a joke!! I hope there are some turboed Doo's this year for us Yammie guys to play with. I ain't towing any out though...just give them the ole "you should have known better". Yup, Yammie turbos rock!!

Good to hear you liked the turbo Nytro! When are you going to take the dive and build one?
